The KIUC Board of Directors appoints a
nominating committee consisting of four
community members at least 80 days prior to
election day, and a nominating committee
chairman is appointed from a director that is not
up for election.
The responsibility of the nominating committee
is to receive and review the resumes and letters of
interest for potential candidates. Board Policy 18
lists the board member qualifications and
eligibility for the general, bylaw and board
requirements for being a director. The policy can
be found at www.kiuc.coop under the “Board”
section.
Resumes and letters of interest can be sent to
the nominating committee for consideration. The
deadline to submit a resume is close of business
on January 4. Each prospective nominee is
required to attend a directors duties orientation
and confirm their willingness to serve.
Once the orientation is completed, the
nominating committee chooses the slate from
willing nominees and the nominees are contacted
for acceptance.
The slate of nominees is announced at least 60
days prior to election day. Once the nominees are
announced, member petitions are accepted and
due by close of business on February 2. If there
are petition candidates, another directors duties
orientation is held, and upon completion, the final
list of candidates is announced.

2012 Board Election
KIUC’s Board of Directors Election is set for March 24.
The petitioner must obtain the account holder
names, signatures and account information from
at least 35 members, none of whom have
previously signed more than two other member
petitions for director nominations in this election.
It is recommended the petitioner collect more
than the minimum number of member signatures
in the event one or more signatures are
invalidated. The petition is verified by staff, and
the petition candidate must attend a directors
duties orientation.
If there are any bylaw amendments, it is
brought up for review and finalized at the January
board meeting.
The voter list—the members who will receive
election packets—is finalized 30 days prior to
election day.
The election packet is mailed to members at
least 20 days prior to the election. Members
should receive their packet in the mail the first
week of March.
The final day for members to cast their ballots is
March 24, 2012, at noon.
