of an existential crisis, explodes and releases the
first elementary particles. The basic concepts
covered in the story are explored in a scientific
perspective and defined in a very simple way,
making them accessible to young readers.

Touil était le surnom d’un petit homme qui ne pouvait
pas grandir (en arabe, « Touil » signifie grand). Touil
était pauvre et n’avait pas de maison. Comme il offrait
ses services à tout le monde, les gens lui demandaient
de vivre avec eux, dans leur maison. Mais une fois son
travail terminé, il reprenait sa route en jouant de sa
flûte magique... À force de marcher, Touil arriva au
sud, près d’un château qui abritait un riche seigneur
avec sa fille, “Lumière du jour”. Une jeune fille qu’il
aimait plus que tout. Mais lorsque cette dernière
fut enlevée par le génie de l’oasis, Touil n’hésita pas
à la sauver...
Zimbel était un petit tailleur qui cousait toute la
journée pour gagner de l’argent, mais en vain. Il faisait
même l’objet de moquerie de la part des personnes
que l’entouraient. Un jour, alors qu’il se promenait
tristement dans la rue, et pensait aux plus beaux habits
qu’il pourrait confectionner s’il en avait eu les moyens,
il tomba sur une paire de ciseaux rouillés. Alors, il se mit
à couper l’herbe, et l’herbe se transforma en soie verte!
Stupéfait, il continua avec le ciel, les étoiles ... et tout
se transforma en un clic clac…

some hundred words that passed from Arabic
to French or from French to Arabic, with the
pronounciation of each original word in both
languages. A good tool to help young children
discover linguistic exchanges, whether ancient
or recent, between these two cultural areas.
Illustrations are charming and very original.
Qu’elles étaient merveilleuses, les histoires de
grand-mère! Elle les racontait si bien, avec sa voix
si douce, que les enfants se mettaient à rêver des
héros. Ils se retrouvaient dans un monde magique
peuplé d’oiseaux et de poissons de toutes les couleurs.
Ils ont même rencontré beaucoup de rois, des princes
et des princesses...
La princesse Yasmine vivait dans un palais avec ses
parents. Ils étaient très gentils, mais le danger et le mal
n’étaient pas trop loin. Dans l’autre royaume, régnait
une méchante sorcière qui voulait devenir la femme du
roi pour régner sur les deux royaumes. Ainsi, elle usa
toutes les formules pour éradiquer la reine, mais c’était
sans compter sur l’amour ressenti par son fils à l’égard
de la princesse Yasmine.
Ce très joli petit imagier bilingue présente une centaine
de mots passés de l’arabe au français ou du français
à l’arabe, avec la prononciation du mot d’origine
dans les deux langues. Un bon instrument pour faire
découvrir aux jeunes enfants les échanges linguistiques
anciens ou plus récents entre ces deux aires culturelles.
Les illustrations sont charmantes et très originales.
