8. EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Engineering Controls
Provide suitable ventilation. Maintain product concentration level below recommended tolerances (T.L.).
Otherwise, use suitable breathing mask.
Specific Control Parameters :
Recommended monitoring
procedures:
Occupational Exposure Limit :
In areas where chemical products are handled, you must monit or the
people exposure according to (PPRA), (Environmental Risk Prevention
Program) from NR-9.
Name TLV/TWA (ppm) TLV/STEL (ppm) TLV/TETO (ppm)
n-metil pirolidona 10/8horas - -
Xylene 100 150 -
Suitable individual personal protection equip ment:
Use respiratory mask with organic vapour f ilter whenever concentration is infe rior
to the tolerance limit and there is not oxygen deficiency. Whenever concentration
Proteção respiratória:
is superior to the tolerance limit and/or t here is oxygen deficiency use mask with
organic vapour and air supplement.
Hand Protection:
When exposure is prolonged and repeated, wear nitrile rubber gloves. Protection
creams may be used for protecti ng exposed skin areas (never use these creams
after exposure).
Eye Protection: Use hermetic goggles for pro tecting eyes against splash es.
Skin and Body Protection:
Wear antistatic clothes made of natural fibers and/or made of synthetic fibers
resistant to high temperatures. If the product contacts the skin, begin
immediately decontamination area with running water.
Special precaut ions:
Only well trained people should ha ndle chemical products. The EPI’s should be Approval Certified. When
chemical product is handled, follow strictly all recommended operational and safety instructions inform ed by the
manufacturer of the chemical prod uct. Never reuse empty containers of chemical products for storing foods.
Monitor the people exposure in area where chemical products are handled. Adopted monitoring procedure shall
be in accordance with PPRA (Environmental Risk Prevention Program) from NR -9.
Hygiene Measures :
Clean clothes and shoes thoroughly after use. General control methods app lie d in Industrial Hyg iene should
minimize product exposure. Do not smoke, consume food or drinks when che mical products are handled.
