First aid measures 

Call to the CCI – Intoxication Control Center if a ny doubt or necessity of more information. Phone: (55) (0xx 11)

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If

breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a doctor. Do not give anything orally. Take 

the label of product when possible.

After skin contact : 

After eye contact : 

Remove exposed or contaminated material. Remove product with vegetal oil 

(coking oil). Wash contaminated skin with plenty water. Do not wash 

contaminated skin with thinner or solvent. Seek medical attention if any skin 

irritation or adverse reaction or other symptoms occurs. 

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at last 15 

minutes. Remove contact lens, if any. Victim must see k immediate medical 

attention. Take copy of label and MSDS to health professional with victim, if 

possible. Call physician. 

After ingestion: Do not induce vomit. Call a doctor immediately . 

Action to be prevented: 

Induce vomit. 

Brief description o f the main symptoms and effects : 

Headaches, dizziness, fat igue, and in extreme cases, uncon sciousness. 

Notes to the doctor : 

Make symptomatic treatment . Do not induce vomiting . The gastric-cleaning is indicate when the pacient intromit 

a big quantity, m ore than 5 ml of the substance in the pure form . The toxic potencial of quantity intromited must 

be valued according to the risk of aspiration of the gastric -cleaning. The ativate coal in solution must be useful. 

However, in same cases the coal induce vomi ting. 

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES 

Fire fighting measures: 

Water Spray, Foam, Dry Chemical, CO2. 

For safeting reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents : 

Water jet, extintor de gás carbônico. 

Specific Risks: 

The fine particles dispense will take fo rm to the explosive mixtures in the air . In case of fire or dense black 

fumes, the harmful decomposition products inhalation can provoke health problems. 

Especial Methods : 

Refresh closed receptacles arou nd the fire. Evacuate the area and combat the fir e at a safe distance. Use dikes 

to contain the water used in the combat and eliminate it according to the local legislation. Use water under fog 

form to cool the recipients exposed to the fire. In case of intense fire in stor age area, use rubber hoses hand led 

at distance. 

Firefighter protection : 

Firefighters m ust wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective equipment. 

6. SPILL / LEAK CONTROL PROCEDURES 

Personal protective equipment : 

Proper personal prot ective equipment should be use d. Evacuate immediate area. Avoid inhalation of fogs/vapor 

and direct contact with product. Do not smoke. 

Eliminate all sources of ignition : 

Eliminate and/or isolate all sources of ignition. Signal and ventilate area of 

spill. Use non-sparking tools. 

Dust control: Not applicable, since it is a liquid product.

Proper personal protective equipment should be used, such as: face 

mask with OV filter (Organic Vapors) and goggles.

retain spilled liquid with inert material, such as sand or e arth. If suitable, absorb spilled liqui d with absorbent 







materials, such as sawdust, cotton waste or other suitable materials

Remove contaminated diking mater ial with a vacuum-truck and transfer it to an 

emergency tank. Eart h all used equipment. Maintain p roduct in closed emergency 

containers prope rly labeled for later recovery or disposal. 

Incinerate all contamin ated material in authorized plant. Do not pour the product into 

sewers. The final disposal of this material should be followed -up by disposal experts 

and made in accordance with the environmental regulations. 

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE 

The use of face mask with OV filter (Org anic Vapors) is recommended . Use 

appropriate eye protect ion in case of eventual chemical splash eye contact exists. 

Wear rubber gloves to avoid direct conta ct of the product with the skin. 

Adequate local exhausting ventilation should be provided t o keep vapor 

concentration below explosive limits. All conductive parts of the system in contact 

with the product shall be grou nded electrically. Do not smoke in the working area. 

Handling of the product respecting the rules of security and industrial hygiene . 

Emergency shower and eyes washer must be installed in areas of use and 

storage. 

§ Prevent contact with the skin, mucosa, eyes and vapor inhalation; 

§ Do not reuse the packing; 

§ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the storage area. 

§ Wash the hands after handling. 

§ Store in a cool, dry area far from high temperatures, flames and oxidizers . 

STORAGE 

Technical appropriate measures : 

The electrical installation must meet the requirements of the stand ards NEC (National Electrical Code) or IEC 

(Internationa l Electrical Commission) and/or ABNT (Brazilian Association of Techni cal Standards). The floor of 

the storage area must be waterproof, not combustible and shall be provided with outfall ditches for dr aining the 

product to damming tanks. Stora ge tanks must be surrounded by damming tanks and fitted with draining devices 

to enable fast drainage in case of leakage .

Wear antistatic clothes made of natural fibers and/or made of synthetic fibers 

resistant to high temperatures. If the product contacts the skin, begin 

immediately decontamination area with running water. 

Special precaut ions: 

Only well trained people should ha ndle chemical products. The EPI’s should be Approval Certified. When 

chemical product is handled, follow strictly all recommended operational and safety instructions inform ed by the 

manufacturer of the chemical prod uct. Never reuse empty containers of chemical products for storing foods. 

Monitor the people exposure in area where chemical products are handled. Adopted monitoring procedure shall 

be in accordance with PPRA (Environmental Risk Prevention Program) from NR -9. 

Hygiene Measures : 

Clean clothes and shoes thoroughly after use. General control methods app lie d in Industrial Hyg iene should 

minimize product exposure. Do not smoke, consume food or drinks when che mical products are handled.

applicable limits of occupational exposition can have an adverse effect to the health, as

Prolonged contact of the product with the skin removes the oil from the skin and may 

cause skin fissures, dryness , dermatitis and eczema. The most common disturbs 

relating to Toluene are fat igue, headaches, irritability, dizziness, fat igue, weakness, 

unconsciousness, som nolence, humming, humor and equilibrium disturbs, nauseas and 

appetite loss. Also the respiratory system may be affected by chronic bronchitis and 

reduction of the breathing volume. The product may also cause infertility , fetal 

abnormalities, and renal pathologies in kids whose mothers have been exposed to t he 

product. Exposure of pregnant women to concentrations above the tolerance limits may 

cause miscarriage. The product may also cause anemia and affect the central 

nervoussystem a nd the peripheral nervous system , causing vascular and nervous 

injuries,headaches, irritability, visual disturbs, uncons ciousness, wild, convulsion, lost 

themotor s and sensorial functions. Toxi c to kidney and digestive disturbs. 

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
