India. He came<br />
here on a goodwill<br />
visit, met<br />
the leaders and<br />
the people and promptly conquered their hearts. Few VIP visits<br />
in recent times have left the impact that the Tunku's good- will<br />
tour has produced in India. It is agreed on all sides that the<br />
Malayan Prime Minister's visit was, indeed a memorable one.<br />
Memorable not only for the strengthening of Indo-Malayan<br />
friendship, which was the Tunku's main objective, but also for the<br />

esteem and affection with which the Tunku was greeted wherever<br />
he went as a "friend in need."<br />
Perhaps, the timing of the visit also contributed to its success.<br />
The Tunku's arrival in India coincided with the Chinese Communist<br />
