At the initiative of CONCORD Europe and with strong support from the
European Economic & Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions and
key members of European Parliament, a positive decision by the Council and
Parliament is soon expected to designate 2015 as European Year for
Responsible Development (EY2015DEV). Such a decision by the EU may
boost global discussions on a post 2015 development framework. The overall
aim of EY2015DEV would be to stimulate EU wide debate among citizens,
development professionals and other stakeholders on the role of EU and
member states in development. This event at the EDD will be a first opportunity
to collect ideas and recommendations to make this EY2015DEV a successful
undertaking across the EU.
