HLPs | INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ERADICATION OF POVERTY<br />
From a development policy perspective, promoting value chains is a powerful<br />
tool in the strengthening of rural economies. However, while it has the potential<br />
to generate real benefits, there are also significant challenges. This panel<br />
addresses two critical questions: Part 1 considers what can be done to ensure<br />
poorer producers and workers benefit from participation in local/regional/global<br />
value chains. Part 2 attempts to identify key messages for donors, governments,<br />
and companies in terms of policies and partnerships, to leverage private<br />
sector investment and engagement towards social and economic upgrading,<br />
food security, and sustainable agriculture.<br />
