This panel scrutinises this policy from the perspective of policy coherence for development: what are the impacts of the EU’s demand for biofuels on food security, the access to land and water, and the livelihoods of people in developing countries? What is the way forward for the EU in a world where biofuel mandates are proliferating and food price surges are a recurrent phenomenon? Stakeholders from the private sector, civil society organisations from North and South and the European Commission will confront their views.
