One hundred years ago, Corl Hagenbeck
reintroduced the idea of animals as part of
nature……………and invented the theme park.
1930’s –1970’s
Context: Partly “natural” and partly “manmade”
Hagenbeck’s ideas were widely copied, diluted
and misrepresented. Nature again was
represented as objects.
