One hundred years ago, Corl Hagenbeck<br />

reintroduced the idea <strong>of</strong> animals as part <strong>of</strong><br />

nature……………and invented the theme park.<br />

1930’s –1970’s<br />

Context: Partly “natural” and partly “manmade”<br />

Hagenbeck’s ideas were widely copied, diluted<br />

and misrepresented. Nature again was<br />

represented as objects.<br />
