<strong>Zoo</strong> education need to be given due priority. They may include<br />

n Interpretation centre<br />

n Signage<br />

n Brochure<br />

n Guide Service<br />

n Recorded commentary<br />

n Information Kiosk<br />

Panning Administrative setup and deployment <strong>of</strong> technical and non technical<br />

staff and their phasing shall depend upon<br />

n Number <strong>of</strong> species/number <strong>of</strong> animals to be displayed<br />

n Number <strong>of</strong> enclosures planned<br />

n Area and dispersal activities.<br />

n Other ancillary facilities.<br />

Safety, Security and disaster management are important for master<br />

plan and may include<br />

n Protective fencing<br />

n Security staff<br />

n Safety equipments<br />

n Warning signals<br />

n Disaster preparedness and drill<br />

Research is an important component <strong>of</strong> modern zoo. The master plan should<br />

keep provision for required.<br />

n Infrastructure<br />

n Equipments<br />

n Scientific & support staff<br />

While it is much easier to prioritize components in case <strong>of</strong> a new zoo, it is<br />

difficult for an existing or very old zoo,<br />

n The existing facilities need be evaluated<br />

n Financial position for taking up desired changes need be examined<br />

n Experience <strong>of</strong> the zoo personnel & short coming noticed to be taken in to<br />

consideration for prioritizing the components<br />
