Properly established <strong>historic</strong> context statements provide a useful tool <strong>for</strong> the<br />

preservation professional and researcher as a means to represent the history of <strong>historic</strong><br />

districts beyond the scope of earlier narratives. The limitations of National Register<br />

criteria, and the framework of the National Register program, have created a specialized<br />

method of <strong>historic</strong>al analysis in the <strong>for</strong>m of the <strong>historic</strong> context statement. This method<br />

has not remained static, as both the methods of academic history and <strong>historic</strong> preservation<br />

have progressed.<br />

In the case of Boulevard Park, the subject property demonstrates eligibility <strong>for</strong> the<br />

National Register under Criterion A within the contexts of streetcar suburb development<br />

and City Beautiful neighborhood design, with a period of significance of 1905-1946. The<br />

National Register documentation in Appendix B includes description of the district and<br />

statements of significance to clarify the points made above.<br />
