Catholic Schools Week
Dance Fever Dance Off
Those who braved the wild, wet
weather of last Saturday evening to
attend the Dance Fever Dance-off
were treated to a spectacular and
enjoyable night. Our children
“costumed-up” in their best dancing
gear, and showed their dance skills to
a large crowd. There were 7 schools
represented on the night – Catholic
schools from Macksville, Bowraville,
Bellingen, Dorrigo, Coffs Harbour,
Woolgoolga, and us.We had several
individual dance category winners,
and placegetters, but the overall
awards this year went to St
Augustine’s and Macksville.
Is Coming to Coffs Harvour on the 10 th May 2011. We will be running a 2 hour
7 th April, 2011
Holy Week & Easter
Our children prepared for Holy
Week by prayerful attendance at
static displays set up on several
days this week to reflect on the
events of Palm Sunday, Holy
Thursday and Good Friday. When
we return after Easter, we will focus
on the great events of Easter
Sunday.
We wish all our school families a
Happy & Holy and very safe Easter
break.
Maternity Leave
This week we say goodbye to Lucy
Welsh (Kindergarten teacher) who
begins Maternity Leave on Friday.
Lucy aims to be away for the
remainder of the school year. We
wish her “all the best” with the
impending arrival of her first child,
and can’t wait to share the
excitement.
At the beginning of next term,
Donna Dennis (Year 1 team) will
commence Maternity Leave. Like
Lucy, this will be Donna’s first child,
and an exciting time for all.
Lucy will be replaced as part of the
Kinder team by Amber Rowley.
Donna will be replaced by Carly
Tiedeman. We hope to be able to
introduce you to both these new
staff members early in Term 2.
Please make them feel very
welcome.
Building Project
We are putting some final touches
on the building project before
official handover, which should take
place during the holidays. I expect
Year 6 to spend the first day of next
term in their new classrooms!
The hall should be available as well,
but I’ll reserve judgment on that.
Some tentative dates have been
proposed for official Opening
Ceremonies next term.

RESOURCING FAMILIES
Is coming to Coffs Harbour on the 10 th
May 2011. We will be running a 2 hour
information session encompassing
information from our current workshops,
“Harnessing the possibilities for young
people with developmental disability” and
‘Circles of Support’. Two sessions are
available during the day or evening. The
first session is from 9.30 am - 11.30am and
the second is from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. All
sessions will be at the Quality Inn City
Centre Coffs Harbour, 22 Elizabeth Street.

ST AUGUSTINE’S VACATION CARE
The April Vacation Care Program at St
Augustine’s School is now out. If you
would like your child to attend, please
contact the Centre on 0417666949 for a
Booking Sheet (and Enrolment Form if you
haven’t attended either care before) and
return to either the School Office or After
School Care before Friday 4 th April 2011.
This will ensure adequate staffing is
available for the safety of your children
during care.

GO 4F FUN – Healthy Active
Happy Kids Do you have children 7 to
13 years old? Are you worried they might
be above their healthy weight?
Go4 Fun is a FREE program which aims to
teach kids how to be healthy and fit and
stay that way! The program runs during
the school term and has been specifically
designed for children aged 7-13 years and
their primary carer/s. Instead of focusing
on weight loss, the Go4 Fun program
provides a fun approach to learning skills
for life, such as preparing and eating
healthy foods, reading food labels,
keeping fit and healthy, shopping on a
budget. And it has proven results. Places
are currently being offered for the Term 2
Program. Call the Coffs Harbour Women’s

Zone Cross Country Carnival
Yesterday we had a team of 35
students travel to Grafton for the Zone
Cross Country. Congratulations to all
students for your effort and good
sportsmanship. A special
congratulations to Jacob deDassel,
Joseph Soergel, Kye Ingram, Olivia
Hewitt, Rajdeep Gill, Brianna
Markham and Fiona Martin who were
selected for the Diocesan Cross
Country Team.

BINGO NEWS
Bingo is the school’s major
fundraiser each year. Since the
start of July 2010 Bingo has made a
profit of over $8,000 and we expect
to make a sizeable donation to the
school at the end of next term.
As we come into the April school
holidays, please give some thought
to coming along for a family night
out. We often see several families
meet up together at bingo which
makes for a fun night out. Tickets
are on sale every Thursday at
Sawtell RSL from 7pm.
On Easter Thursday we will be
holding a seafood and fresh meat
raffle and all players will get
something from the Easter Bunny.
