One Act and Full Length Musicals
Lucky, Lucky Hudson and the 12th Street Gang
— The Musical
book by TIM KELLY music and lyrics by BILL FRANCOEUR
An exuberantly funny musical spoofing old-time gangster movies
Cast: 15F, 15M, chorus, dancers and extras
Playing time: 90 minutes, 2 acts
Order #R-R228 Script: $6.50
Order #R-R229 Vocal score: $8
Order #R-R230 Piano/conductor score: $20
Order #R-RC43 Production/rehearsal CD set: $65
Order #R-RP44 Royalty: $90/$80
More zany gangster characters than Guys and Dolls and twice the stage action. A nonstop-laugh parody of lovable
cliché racketeers: Big Al, Little Al, Ma Cribbs, Mad Dog Myrtle, Two-Gun Tommy, Petty-Larceny Jane and many more.
Chicago jazz, ragtime, blues and bouncy comedy choruses are interwoven throughout the lively, suspenseful story line.
Song lyrics are delightful. Through a clever plot twist Steve Jenkins, the writer, gets pulled into his own story. Lucky
Hudson, his crime-busting hero, puts him right into the comic underworld of nightclubs and back alleys. Steve is tricked
into prison and death row for a murder he never committed. He escapes at the last moment and, with Lucky’s help, is
able to discover the surprise identity of the godfather Big Boss. The wildly imaginative ending caps a perfect blend of
song, story and action. Eight great songs including: “Lucky, Lucky Hudson,” “A Wild Imagination,” “Welcome
to the Paradise Club,” “The Almighty Dollar,” “The Hollihock Hong Kong Babies,” “It’s a Jungle Out
There,” “He’s Guilty,” “The Juice” and several reprises. Superb theatre, opportunities for outlandish gangster
costumes and hilarious dialog. A great box-office show!
(available as a full length play on page 14 and one act musical on page 11)
This silly spoof of TV’s “private eye” shows of the fifties and sixties features Hercules Porridge, the “famous” Hoboken
detective. Whodunit? Was it Jeeves, the butler? Anguish Crispie, the mystery writer? Rebecca Fitzwilliam, the landlady
of Crooked House? Colonel Chutney, the eccentric neighbor? Or one of the other oddball houseguests? Lots of zany
action with a German nurse, the senile butler, even Leon Russell. Songs include: “Murder at Crooked House,” “A
Dilapidated Mess,” “Hoboken Private Eye,” “Whodunit” and more. Spooky, sinister, suspenseful, but mostly
funny. A great one act show for a large cast. Requires only one set. Many excellent roles with easy-to-learn singing
parts. Available as a full length musical on page 5 and as a full length play on page 19.
yankee Doodle Dandy : The Song and Dance Man
book by ARTHUR ZAPEL music and lyrics by BILL FRANCOEUR
The music of George M. Cohan
Cast: 16F, 16M, plus dancers and chorus (optional extras)
Playing time: 90 minutes, 2 acts
Order #R-R243 Script: $6.50
Order #R-R241 Vocal score: $8
Order #R-R242 Piano/conductor score: $20 1
Order #R-RC26 Production/rehearsal CD set: $65
Order #R-RP40 Royalty: $90/$80
Similar to The Music Man, but easier to stage, this show is full of music and comedy action. The angelic spirit of
Broadway’s great song-and-dance man, George M. Cohan, reappears on earth to help stage a centennial pageant for the
Rocky Mountain town of Snookersville. Add five original rock, ragtime and Western ballads to many Cohan favorites
like “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “Give My Regards to Broadway” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and you have
a show that really bounces. Grumpy old Emily Snooker, great-granddaughter of the founder, tries to force the teens of
the town to stage a dull and phony historical play but is outmaneuvered by Cohan and friends. Many comic roles:
befuddled Mayor Gumper, dance teacher Gwendolyn LaFever, literature teacher Courtney Earnshaw, reincarnated General
Snooker and many more! A wide variety of parts for a large or small chorus line, solo dancers, live guitar players and
walk-ons. Lots of laughs and a love story, too!
