Sir Gawain and
the Green Knight
by CRAIG SODARO
A comedy spoof on the legend of Camelot
Cast: 11F, 10M
Playing time: 40 minutes
Complete playkit with 12 scripts and
rights to reproduce copies: $25.95
Order #R-P532
An action-filled satire for a mixed cast of twenty-one actors
and actresses — good company parts for a large cast of
players. Also a great opportunity for improvising silly or
beautiful costumes, depending on your production style.
The comedy is fast-moving and based on the
dilemma of Sir Gawain, who must meet an impossible
challenge. Merlin conjures a monstrous Green Knight who
lets Sir Gawain strike him thrice with his sword in return for
the same opportunity later. A year of comic intrigue passes,
and then a hapless Sir Gawain must meet the Green Knight
again. King Arthur is a small help, but Merlin comes
through, and Sir Gawain wins the hand of Lady Elaine.
Lots of silly fun.
Noise of the Toys
by SHIRLEY ULLOM
Toys come to life on stage
Cast: 13F, 8M, variable
Age level: High School
Playing time: 40 minutes, adjustable
Complete playkit with 10 scripts and
rights to reproduce copies: $22.95
Order #R-P1490
Enough parts for everyone! And every actor gets funny
lines! A great opportunity for each player to create
his/her own parody costume of a famous toy like: “Batty
Man,” “Spice Babs,” “GI Joey,” “Hulky Hero,” “Wyatt
Burp,” “Dolly Baby,” “Raggy Ann” and many more.
The setting is Grouchy Gertie’s Toys-R-Toys shop. She’s
become tired of the toy business and plans to sell out, but
the toys think differently. When Gertie sleeps they come
alive, invading her dreams to convince her that she must
never sell the store. This makes for loads of wild freewheeling
fun. Your cast will love doing their own makeup
and quipping out witty one-liners. A totally unusual show
by a comedy pro.
Large Cast One Act Plays
Stacks of Wax
by SHIRLEY ULLOM
Hilarious histrionics in a wax museum
Cast: 10F, 9M
Age level: Middle School to College
Playing time: About 30 minutes
Complete playkit with 10 scripts and
rights to reproduce copies: $20.95
Order #R-P1149
Great fun for teen actors to dress up and become famous
wax figures on display. For the girls, there’s Florence
Nightingale, the Statue of Liberty, Amelia Earhart,
Scarlett O’Hara, Carry Nation, Betsy Ross, Marilyn
Monroe and Cleopatra. For the guys, there’s Wyatt Earp,
Doc Holliday, Jesse James, John Wayne, Abe Lincoln,
JFK, Caesar, King Tut and Henry VIII. Needless to say,
they all have different viewpoints. That’s where the
laughter begins. When the proprietor and housekeeper
leave the museum, all the figures come to life. Imagine the
crazy interplay between this unlikely group of characters!
Freezing and unfreezing as humans enter and exit creates
funny situations. The figures are scheduled for a big
showing, but the housekeeper leaves the heat on
overnight and the show is a meltdown. Easy to stage.
Lots of fun with costume improvisation.
