Full Length and One Act Plays
The Great American
Talent Show
by JOSEPH ROBINETTE Royalty play
A spoof of reality TV talent shows
Cast: 7F, 5M
Playing time: About 40 minutes, 1 act
Order #R-R344 Script: $5.75
Order #R-RP89 Royalty: $40/performance
It’s the final night of the yearlong TV talent show to end
all talent shows. Seven finalists anxiously await their final
shot at fame and fortune. Three self-important judges
including the “Simon” character cajole and/or praise
each contestant in hilarious ways. There’s a girl who sings
a ludicrous “heartbreak” song, an eager comedian with
laughably old jokes, the boy (or girl) who plays “Stars
and Stripes Forever” on a kazoo, cymbals and drums
at the same time, an impressionist of Bogart to Elvis, and
three others with “talent.” This play parodies a
combination of American Idol, America’s Got Talent,
Star Search and others. All the drama is there: the fears,
the tears, the agony and ecstasy. A fun show for
performers and audience alike.
Snow White:
The Untold Story
by FLIP KOBLER and CINDY MARCUS
A fresh take on the classic fairy tale
Cast: 12F, 9M, plus extras
Playing time: About 60 minutes, 2 acts
Order #R-R367 Script: $6.25
Order #R-RP111 Royalty: $50/performance
New!
This Snow White is like nothing you’ve seen before. She
has seven fairy godmothers. She’s an ungraceful, badmannered
tomboy, not a prim and proper princess. But
she wants to please her father, King Vance, when he
returns with Vilenity, his bride-to-be. Unknown to Snow,
her future stepmother is a witch who has designs on the
kingdom. When the Magic Mirror reveals that Snow will
inherit the kingdom, Vilenity sends her henchman. But
Snow escapes, seeking refuge at a cottage of seven fairy
godmothers where she’s trapped by Vilenity’s prior spell.
The bumbling godmothers manage to spring Snow by
switching her with a princess from another fairy tale. Snow
falls in love with the faraway prince while his former
princess falls for Vilenity’s henchman. Along with the
godmothers, they regroup and return to stop the wedding
and defeat Vilenity before she becomes queen. A delightful
show from two of Disney’s former scriptwriters. Easy to
stage.
An Inconvenient Corpse
the way” comedy mystery
America’s Funniest
Dancing Idol
by PEG SHELDRICK
A wild and witty spoof of American Idol
Cast: 8F, 7M and 4 starlet cheerleaders
Playing time: 90 minutes, 2 acts
Order #R-R313 Script: $6.25
Order #R-RP13 Royalty: $50/performance
A hilarious spoof with a large cast of oddball characters. It’s
a goofy TV star search for the most talented dancing idol.
Nothing goes right for the judges, and the contestants are
terrible performers. Everyone thinks they know better than
the judges how to decide the winner. Someone is secretly
trying to stop the show – but who? Funny character roles
with scripted dialects. Your audience will instantly
recognize the silly spoofs of pop music celebrities. Nonstop
merriment from start to finish. Easy to stage with lively
action and audience participation.
Want to stage a smash hit comedy? This is it! At the
“Ladies of the Deep South” luncheon meeting, their
guest of honor, Warren Burdett, suddenly drops dead.
Did the pasta kill him? Was he murdered? Unable to
decide what to do, the ladies try to hide the body. Nonstop
hilarity begins as they try to keep the corpse out of
sight from their unexpected guests. The victim was
scheduled to be the Grand Marshall of the Founders Day
parade so everyone comes searching for him — the
mayor, the snoopy newspaper reporter, and his girlfriend.
Was Burdett murdered for his grandfather’s secret diary?
Did the diary reveal the shady dealings of everyone in
town? This fast-paced farce is packed with suspense and
laughter. Comedic characters, amusing scenes, and lots
of stage action! Your audiences will love this show.
