Oliver Twisted
by TIM KELLY and CRAIG SODARO
A two-act spoof of Dickens’ classic story
Cast: 9F, 5M, 4 optional
Playing time: 60 minutes, 2 acts
Order #R-R281 Script: $6.25
Order #R-RP81 Royalty: $50/performance
Actors and audiences alike will enjoy the clever,
wisecracking dialog that keeps this show moving laugh
to laugh. It’s a double spoof — a parody of Dickens’
classic work inside a take-off of the early TV
private-eye shows. Every character is a hilarious
cartoon-image of each traditional character: Mrs.
Bumble, the cruel and selfish head of the orphanage
and Fay Gunn, the seductive leader of the young boy
pickpockets — Art Dodger, Swifty, Brains and Giggles.
“Famous” private eye, Chuck Dickens, is hired by a
wealthy society matron to find the lost orphan Oliver
Twist. His total ineptness is exceeded only by the silly
devotion of his adoring Girl Friday. She and Bill Sikes
work separately to find Oliver and save him from a life
of delinquency. The locket from Oliver’s late mother is
found and the noble orphan wins his legacy. The
“world’s greatest detective,” Chuck Dickens, once
again takes credit for solving the mystery though he
contributed nothing but confusion. Easy to stage with
simple sets.
Foot Phil blast each other dead because of the evil
plotting of the town’s two sister bankers. The sisters
conspire to get almost everyone shot to foreclose on their
property. But a town legend offers hope for the future.
Law and order will return to Hamelot when someone
pulls the famed X-caliber rifle from the stone. Artie does
it! He becomes Sheriff and brings peace back to the
town. But soon the gun-fighting resumes when false
testimony from Billy, Lily, Milly and Tilly leads Artie to
the hanging tree. But a schoolmarm’s savvy saves Artie
from the noose. The conspirators are skedaddled. Once
again Hamelot becomes the peaceful paradise it was
meant to be.
has been made. The Cuthberts wanted a boy. But before
they can send her back to the orphanage, Anne’s winsome
funny antics captivate all who come to know her. Players
When two girls are kidnapped from Butterworth
Academy, John Watson hopes his friend and fellow
student Sherlock Holmes will be able to solve his first
crime. The girls’ parents show up with ransom notes.
Then a psychic, Madame Lulu, appears, guaranteeing
she’ll find the girls. But the bumbling, inept Constable
Bing begins his own search. When the psychic finds the
girls after a large fee from the parents, Sherlock is
suspicious. When two more girls go missing, he sets a
trap to snare the criminal. After more large fees from
the parents, Madame Lulu “finds” them again. Sherlock
springs the trap, revealing the Headmistress and Lulu as
sisters in crime. Lots of funny action and dialog. Easy to
stage with one set.
