,trucsre. where the fire box war discovered. Them, it measured <strong>be</strong>tween M.M)cm wide.<br />

Thts width suggests that the foundation was wide enough to ruppon a sill measuring up<br />

<strong>10</strong> 30 em or one fmr thick. Using both the northest comer and the large aone rlah in the<br />

south wall (mentioned above) as .an average. it wwld appear that the foundation could<br />

have measured rpproi!malely 50em wide.<br />

The <strong>only</strong> surviving evidence <strong>of</strong> n bonding agent in the h ow foundation was preserved in<br />

the back wall <strong>of</strong> the fire box. Them. VMS <strong>of</strong> the same lmal wndyclay used for the floor<br />

wm discovmd among* stones. It <strong>may</strong> <strong>be</strong> pmsible that the Lundation was low<br />

enough to have supported itwlf w!thour the nrrd far a bonding material. No vace <strong>of</strong> lime<br />
