We all remember be<strong>in</strong>g told by an annoyed parent to ‘‘say cheese’’ while stand<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>in</strong> front of someth<strong>in</strong>g memorable, a Christmas tree or Mount Rushmore. The flashbulb<br />
would pop and freeze your awkward smile on a piece of film. Your dad would<br />
advance to the next frame. Inevitably<br />
somewould say, ‘‘I hope that comes out.’’<br />
In a digital world of <strong>in</strong>stant pictures,<br />
we have the ability to know exactly what<br />
our snapshots look like. The photographer<br />
makes sure everyone’s eyes are<br />
open, repeat<strong>in</strong>g the shot until the photo<br />
is perfect.<br />
The Holga is a plastic camera that<br />
doesn’t yield consistent results. With its<br />
light leaks, poor focus and vignetted edges, it puts mystery back <strong>in</strong>to photography. It<br />
has been coveted by art photographers for those reasons. For professional photographers<br />
who make consistent, high quality images every day, it’s nice to press the shutter<br />
on a cheap camera and say to yourself, ‘‘I hope that comes out.’’<br />
We decided to view Arl<strong>in</strong>gton <strong>Heights</strong> through the lens of these unique cameras to<br />
give the portraits on this page a dist<strong>in</strong>ct voice.<br />

variety of ways. Our comprehensive <strong>in</strong>ventory of trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals<br />
will take care of your complete landscape needs. You can plant them yourself or have<br />
our <strong>in</strong>stallation division handle it for you. This <strong>in</strong>ventory also <strong>in</strong>cludes all the hardscape<br />
items to complete the job.<br />
Our flower/gift shop can provide l<strong>in</strong>es of fresh flowers, dish gardens, tropicals and<br />
floral arrangements for any occasion! Gift baskets too! Along with greet<strong>in</strong>g cards,<br />
candles, seasonal items and housewares are many other unique gift ideas! The recent<br />
changes at our location on Devon Avenue, will make your Berthold’s experience more<br />
