In the next variant we see that four and five have been replaced by number six. This
is a ligature replacement.

The mark is an independent entity. Sometimes it has a width, sometimes it hasn’t.
In both cases we can position it. Here we move the shape left and down. There are two
ways to do this: simple pairwise kerning but better is to use anchors. Here we have one
anchor per shape but there can be many.

Alternatively we can connect the shapes in a cursive way. The name cursive is somewhat
misleading as it just boils down to shifting. The cursive indicates that the shifts
