Tabernacle
The 98th season of summer
services in the Ocean City
Tabernacle will begin on June
: 12 with newly named Bishop
C. Dale White, of the Southern
New Jersey Conference of the
Bfcthodist Church, in the
pulpit
The Tabernacle will open
the previous week, June 5,
with special services for the
Lu Lu Temple, climaxing the
annual seashore outing of the
Shriners here in Ocean City.
The Tabernacle hosts three
Sunday services in its attractive
building on the
spacious Tabernacle grounds
in center city. The services
are held at 9 and 11 a.m. and
again at 7:30 p.m. Song
services begin 15 minutes
before each service.
The Tabernacle music
services are directed by
Thomas Perkins. E. Woodley
Kalehoff is the organist.
William G. Luff, Association
president, is the morning
service song leader and J.
Robert Bennett will lead the
evening song service.
Each service features the
famed Tabernacle Quartette,
Thomas Perkins, baritone;
Winifred Dettore, soprano;
Sharon Dworchak, contralto,
and J. Robert Bennett, tenor.
Preachers of national
reputation occupy the pulpit
each service. The evening
services include special
music programs.

The 1977 Ocean City
Summer Bible Conference at
the Ocean City Baptist Church
under the direction of the
pastor. Dr. Davic P. Wright,
will open Sunday evening July
3 and will continue for nine
consecutive weeks through
September 4.
The Bible Conference is an
annual feature of the ministry
of Ocean City Baptist Church.
Dr. Wright became pastor of
Ocean City Baptist Church in
1954 and is engaged in his 24th
year as director of the Bible
Conference.

The annual session of the
Southern New Jersey Conference
of the United
Methodist Church will be held
in the First Methodist Church
of Ocean City June 13 through
16.
The sessions are held in the
Methodist Church with
special meetings and
ceremonies onJbCBoardwalk
Music Pier.
Resident Bishop C. Dale
White, of Princeton, will
preside at the' sessions.
Bishop White came from the
Maine-New Hampshire-
Southern New England
Conference last year to
succeed Bishop Prince A.
' Taylor.
The annual session sets in
motion programs and policies
governing the spiritual and
temporal welfare of all
Methodist Church members
in the Southern New Jersey
area.
The Conference comprises
360 congregations with 110,000
members in 11 counties of
Southern New Jersey. Lay
and clergy delegates numbering
about 700 will be in
Ocean City for the annual
Conference.
A highlight of the conference
is the ordination of
new ministers, which usually
climaxes the sessions on
Sunday. Also of interest is
announcement of pastoral
assignments at the close of
the session.
Friday and Saturday of
conference week are days for
lay action. The Women's
Society for Christian Service
and the Methodist Men
program a number of
meetings and services.
The Conference began
holding its sessions in Ocean
City during World War II. Its
members found the resort so
well suited for conferences
that the city was adopted as
the permanent meeting place
for the Conference.

1970 through 1974.
The Bible Conference
program includes two
meetings daily, the Morning
Bible Hour at 11 a.m. Tuesday
through Friday, and a
meeting every evening at 7^.30p.m.
