Dr. Robert J. Marshall, LCA
president, sent a letter which
was. read to all Lutheran
congregations on March 20. In
his letter he stated, "There
come times, when the church
must concentrate in a special
way on the source and strength
for mission, upon Christ's
salvation for us and for all
humanity.
"The Lutheran Church in
America has determined that
)977 and 197^ shall be such a
time. After four years that
began with proposals emerging
in a few places, continued
through discussion and
decisions at two conventions of
the church and involved,
careful exploration and
preparation. Strength For
Mission now calls for new
committment from all of us."
