Liberation Outward
But we are not saved to sit idly, waiting for Jesus to come from
heaven and deliver us from all problems. We have been saved,
Paul goes onto say, in order to walk in the good works that God
has prepared beforehand for us:
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in
them (Ephesians 2:10).
An important goal of personal liberation is outward liberation.
Redeemed men are to begin to transform the world around them
by their good works. They are to bear good fruit. Jesus warned:
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by
their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from
thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree
bears bad fmit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad
tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fi-uit is cut
down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you shall
know them (Matthew 7:15-20).
False Liberation
The Marxist liberation theologians come before men, claiming
to be Christians. They claim they are preaching God’s program
of violent revolution, re-education, top-down state planning,
military expansion, and the abolition of private property.
Wherever Marxism is imposed, the standard of living falls,
refugees flee across borders in abject poverty, and the barbed wire
and walls go up along the borders. The leaders of the revolution
need to force people to stay inside the borders of paradise. Why?
Because Marxism is a classic case of poison fruit. Marxist liberation
theologians are the classic case, perhaps in the history of
man, of wolves in sheep’s clothing. The fruit is bad because Marxism
is evil. There is no other word for it: evil. It destroys men and
societies in the name of liberation. It offers false hopes, and then
