He must remain seated on His heavenly throne until the day<br />

that He returns in final judgment to end death. That is what<br />

Paul taught. It could not be any clearer.<br />

Benefits<br />

We are Christ’s representatives in history. We therefore are<br />

His agents to extend His rule. When Jesus celebrated Passover<br />

with His disciples, He gave them this promise regarding their<br />

authority in history<br />

And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father bath appointed<br />

unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom,<br />

and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel (Luke<br />

22:29-30).<br />

Scofield adds this heading: “The apostles’ place in the future<br />

kingdom.”b The problem is, this interpretation depends on<br />

making an absolute distinction in history between the kingdom<br />

of heaven and the kingdom of God, a distinction that modern<br />

dispensationalists no longer insist on.<br />

AS the Church matures, we gain greater experience and<br />

greater confidence in our ability to rule. We do this as parents<br />

in our families. We do this as leaders in our churches. On what<br />

basis can this be restricted to families and churches? What<br />

about education? What about our businesses? Don’t we extend<br />

our dominion in history here? Then why should Christians<br />

expect to be losers in history? The Bible teaches no such thing.<br />

With greater success comes greater responsibility Jesus<br />

warned sinners that this is the case; how much more for His<br />

people, who have greater knowledge than sinner do! He<br />

warned:<br />
