earnestness, the authors would like to appeal to policy makers and fellow<br />

conservationists, both in the Royal Government of Bhutan and in the international<br />

community, to help promote designation of the Royal Manas, Black Mountains,<br />

and Jigme Dorji National <strong>Parks</strong> as World Heritage Sites. As illustrated by this<br />

paper, these three protected areas have significant ecological, social, economic,<br />

aesthetic, and spiritual values not only for the Bhutanese people but also for the<br />

world population at large.<br />
