box, or by selecting Properties from the right click menu. Figure
6-8 is an example of an alternative properties dialog box.

In the dialog box, the "Name" field in the upper left corner defines
how to describe the alternative in various lists and tables. The "ID
Number" field allows an alternate description or code for the
alternative. You can use the Preferences::Names option to control
how LDW uses these two fields to describe the alternatives. The
comments field at the bottom of the dialog box lets you provide a
more detailed description of your alternative.
Adding an Alternative. You can add an alternative at any time
using the Edit::Add option. Just select the "Alternative" button
and click OK. LDW will give you the option of copying an
existing alternative or adding a new default alternative. You can
also add alternatives in the Matrix or Quick Entry view with the
Add an Alternative option. If you have previously saved an
alternative using the Edit::Cut or Edit::Copy option you can
retrieve it with the Edit::Paste option. Finally, you can click the
“Add Another Alternative.”
Deleting an Alternative. You can delete an alternative at any
time by selecting it and using the Edit::Delete option. LDW
will ask you to confirm before it deletes the alternative in the
Matrix view.
