• Begin to protest separations<br />

from significant adults.<br />

• Engage in back-and-forth interaction<br />

by handing a parent an<br />

object, then reaching to receive<br />

the object when it is handed<br />

• Show—but not give—a toy to<br />

the infant care teacher. (9–12<br />
