The Assessor’s Department locates all taxable property in Los Angeles
County and identifies ownership. These assessed values are the basis
of property taxes which are used to pay for law enforcement, fire
protection, education, parks and recreation and other vital services.
Public information available at this office includes valuation, ownership,
comparable sales information, maps and multi-language brochures
which may be obtained from staff at the counter. Staff will also assist
individuals who want to use Assessor computer terminals to access
information.
Antelope Valley property owners are served by the Lancaster Regional
Office, which is responsible for approximately 190,000 parcels, including
homes, businesses and vacant land.
The Assessor’s Department also maintains an extensive, user-friendly
website at http://assessor.lacounty.gov which includes valuation,
maps and downloadable forms. Ownership information can only be
obtained in person at the Lancaster Office or by telephone.

Annual property taxes are mailed each year during the first week of
October. The first installment is due on November 1st and become
delinquent on December 10th. The second installment is due
February 1st and becomes delinquent on April 10th.

Bureau of Weights and Measures
The Bureau of Weights and
Measures is responsible for ensuring
the accuracy of each meter and scale
that determines a charge to the
consumer. The Bureau also verifies
that all package products contain
the correct stated net weight or
measure as labeled and verifies that
the advertised or shelf price for a
product matches the price determined
by scanners at the checkout area.
Correct weights and measures are
a benefit to both consumer and
manufacturers.
