The beautiful outdoor Ford Amphitheatre in the
Hollywood Hills seats more than 1,200 people and
is one of the oldest performing arts amphitheatres
in Los Angeles. This unique open-air theatre was
built in 1920 and designed in Judaic architecture
to resemble the gates of Jerusalem. The theatre
offers a wide array of performances programmed
by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission
featuring dance, world music, jazz, chamber music,
theater, pop music, film, and family events during
the months of May through October. For evening
shows, grounds open two hours before show times
for patrons to relax and picnic. One-hour family
shows on Saturday mornings are free for children
