PURPOSE To outline the fee structure for various programs administered by Contra Costa County EMS. II. FEES are not refundable. Cashier check or money order only made payable to Contra Costa Health Services - cash and personal checks will NOT be accepted. Contra Costa Emergency Medical Services PREHOSPITAL CREDENTIAL REVIEW PROCESS POLICY #: 5 PAGE: 1 of 1 EFFECTIVE: 07/01/10 REVIEWED: 07/01/10 Any proceedings by the EMS Agency to deny, suspend or revoke an EMT-I certification or MICN authorization, or place any EMT-I or MICN certificate holder on probation pursuant to Section 1798.200 of the Health and Safety Code shall be conducted in accordance with California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 6. I. EMT-1 Negative action against any EMT or Advanced EMT certificate may be instituted by the EMS Medical Director based upon the finding of an imminent threat to the public health and safety as evidenced by the occurrence of any of the items listed in Health and Safety Code, Division 2.5, Chapter 7, Section 1798.200(c). All investigations and disciplinary actions shall be conducted in accordance with Health and Safety Code, Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 6 and Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 11500) of Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government Code. II. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN – PARAMEDIC (EMT-P) Paramedic licensure actions (e.g., immediate suspension) shall be performed according to the California Health and Safety Code 1798.202. III. MICN Negative action against any MICN authorization may be instituted by the EMS Medical Director based upon the finding of an imminent threat to the public health and safety as evidenced by the occurrence of any of the items listed in Health and Safety Code, Division 2.5, Chapter 7, Section 1798.200(c). If at any time during the review or investigation, the Medical Director determines that the facts support placing a certificate holder on probation or denying, suspending or revoking an authorization, the Medical Director may convene an investigative review panel (IRP). The IRP will assess all information on the matter in order to establish the facts of the case and make a written report of its findings and recommendations to the Medical Director. III. BASE HOSPITAL OR PROVIDER AGENCY REPORTING OF EMS EVENTS In compliance with Policy #32 EMS Event Reporting, EMS events (patient/provider safety events) involving EMS personnel, which may constitute a threat under California Health and Safety Code section 1798.200 (listed on the back of each EMS Event Report Form), should be reported to the County EMS Agency. If this report is made by telephone, a written EMS Event Report Form should be submitted within 72 hours. EMS Event reporting forms are available at www.cccems.org. If, in the judgment of the Base Hospital Liaison Physician, or other physician designee-, immediate action must be taken by the EMS Agency after normal business hours to protect the public health and safety, the On-Call Health Officer may be contacted through the Sheriff's Dispatch Center. Call Sheriff's Dispatch at 646-2441 to contact the On-Call Health Officer.
