with the provisions of the By-Laws. The Board interprets the By<br />
Laws, makes awards for athletic and extra-curricular activities,<br />
authorizes expenditures from the corporation funds, and exercises<br />
all other powers in connection with the corporation not otherwise<br />
delegated.<br />
Board of Control. The Honor System is the fundamental principle<br />
of conduct of all students. More than merely a code applying<br />
to conduct in examinations, it extends to aU phases of campus life.<br />
It is the code of behavior governing all scholastic and extra-curricular<br />
activities, all relations among students, and all relations between<br />
students and faculty. The Honor System is the outstanding tradition<br />
of the student body, which accepts full responsibility for its<br />
operation. The Board of Control, which is composed of elected<br />
representatives from each of the four undergraduate classes, is<br />
charged with interpreting the Honor System. If any violations should<br />
occur, the Board of Control considers them and may recommend<br />
appropriate disciplinary measures to the faculty.<br />
Faculty-Student Relations. Faculty-student coordination and cooperation<br />
with regard to campus affairs is secured through periodic<br />
joint meetings of the Faculty Committee on Student Relations,<br />
and the Board of Directors and the Board of Control of the Student<br />
Body. These conferences serve as a clearing house for suggestions as<br />
to policy, organization, etc., originating with either students or<br />
faculty.<br />
Athletics. The California Institute maintains a well-rounded program<br />
of athletics and is a member of the Southern California Conference,<br />
which includes Whittier College, Occidental College, Redlands<br />
University, and Pomona College. A full schedule of competition<br />
is carried on in football, basketball, baseball, tennis, track,<br />
swimming, and other intercollegiate sports.<br />
By arrangement with the City of Pasadena, the Institute has<br />
access to the athletic facilities of Tournament Park, which is adjacent<br />
to the campus. The Park contains a fine new baseball stadium,<br />
championship tennis courts, a football field, and a track. For basket-
