advanced reports are made on current problems and on fundamental classical work.<br />

Ph. 241. Research Conferences in Physic.. 4 units; first, second and third<br />

terms.<br />

Meets twice a week for a report and discussion of the work appearing in the<br />

literature and that in progress in the laboratory. Advanced students in physics and<br />

members of the physics staff take part.<br />

In charge: Millikan and Houston.<br />

Ph. 242. Research in Physics. Units in accordance with the work accomplished.<br />

Opportunities for research are offered to graduate students in all the main<br />

branches of physics. See "Publications of the Staff," pages 119-122, for a survey<br />

of researches actually in progress. The student should consult the department and<br />

have a definite program of research outlined before registering.<br />

Astronomy and Physic. Club.<br />

The club, consisting of physicists and astronomers of the Institute and of the<br />

Mount Wilson Observatory, meets on the first Friday in each month either at the<br />

Institute or the Observatory Laboratory for the discussion of researches carried on by<br />

its members as well as those appearing in the journals.
