SPECIAL FELLOWSHIP FUNDS<br />
A considerable group of governmental units, industrial organizations,<br />
and private individuals have contributed funds for the<br />
support of Fellows engaged in fundamental researches related to their<br />
interests and activities. These include the United States Navy Department,<br />
United States Bureau of Reclamation, United States Soil<br />
Conservation Service, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California,<br />
Los Angeles County Flood Control District, Los Angeles<br />
City Harbor Board, Los Angeles County seismological interests,<br />
American Petroleum Institute, General Petroleum Corporation,<br />
Polymerization Process Corporation, Shell Oil Company, Standard<br />
Oil Company of California, Texaco Development Corporation, Union<br />
Oil Company of California, Consolidated Aircraft Corporation,<br />
Curtiss-Wright Corporation, Douglas Aircraft Co., Inc., Lockheed<br />
Aircraft Corporation, North American Aviation, Inc., Vultee Aircraft<br />
Division, Aviation Mfg. Corporation, Agfa-Ansco Corporation,<br />
Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company, Asphalt Institute,<br />
Caterpillar Tractor Co., Geo-Frequenta Corporation, Hughes Tool<br />
Company, Kelco Company, Lane-Wells Company, National Supply<br />
Company, Rare Metals Institute, Research Corporation of New York,<br />
A. o. Smith Corporation, Submarine Signal Company, Mr. Arnold<br />
Pfau, Dr. W. M. White, and the Mudd and Kellogg funds for research<br />
on cancer and carcinogenic substances.<br />
The Rockefeller Bio-Organic Fund: This fund is contributed by<br />
the Rockefeller Foundation for the support of a group of postdoctorate<br />
men who are working on the problem of the molecular<br />
structure of organic substances.<br />
The Carnegie Corporation Cosmic Ray Fund: This fund is given<br />
by the Carnegie Corporation and administered by the Carnegie Insti-
