Mission and Objectives

• We are actively involved in education programs, advocacy, and technology access to enable tomorrow’s innovators.
• Intel has invested over US$1billion in the past decade towards improving education in 50 countries.
• More than 6 million teachers have been trained in over 40 countries, and 7 million more teachers will be trained by 2011.
• Intel works with governments, local NGOs and academic institutions through public private partnership for improving education around the world.
Improving teaching and learning through the effective use of technology
Intel ® Teach Program
The Intel® Teach Program is a professional development program that
helps classroom teachers effectively integrate technology to enhance
student learning. It is the most successful professional development
program of its kind.
In India, the Program has impacted over ten lakh teachers across 17 State
Governments and Union Territories, 62 teacher education universities, 8
SCERT’s and Central Government relationships like NVS, KVS & NCTE.
Brief Update for Gujarat:
• Program started in: August 2001
• State Government Organisations we work with: Gujarat Secondary
and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB), Sarva Shiksha
Abhiyan (SSA), Gujarat Council of Education Research and
Training(GCERT)
• Number of districts covered : All 26
• World Ahead State MoU signed with Education and Tribal to
support CM 10 point program, during Vibrant Gujarat, 2009 .
• Integration of Intel Teach with CCC curriculum to impact all
teachers.
• Over 1,05,496 teachers trained across government and private
schools.
• Intel and GSHSEB Jointly developed technology standards.
• 72,498 Teacher Educators and Student teachers trained across
280 colleges of Bhavnagar University, GCERT, Gujarat Vidya Peeth
University, Maharaja Sayajji Rao University, North Gujarat
University, Sardar Patel University, SNDT University, Ahmedabad,
Kadi Vishwa Vidyalaya University and South Gujarat University.
• Educators Club formed in Sardar Patel University
• AIM (Asian Institute of Management), Phillipines developed a case
study on Gujarat Government – Intel PPP for Education
transformation
• Deakin University conducted Post Practicum Survey and Impact
survey in Jan, 2007 for the Pre Service program. Result shows
strong teacher educator and student teacher level technology
implementation in teaching learning.
IMRB evaluation of impact of Program reveals that:
• 94% of the principals reiterate that the program has a positive
impact on the teachers, students and on overall functioning of the
school.
• 81% teachers in SSA schools are using the technology in new
ways like making projects, teaching lessons by diagrams, using the
power point presentation etc.
• 99% of the students mentioned that they enjoy the computer
aided learning and were able to understand the lessons more
effectively when taught using computers.
Intel® Learn Program
The Intel ® Learn Program is a community-based program for emerging
markets designed to help learners (8-16 years) develop 21 st century
skills (techno-logical literacy, critical thinking, problem solving, and
collaboration). The curriculum uses an engaging project-based approach
and is delivered through community technology centers.
The program was launched in 2004 and till date has reached more
than 87,000 learners in 1,100 centers across 23 states and 4 Union
Territories in collaboration with Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (MHRD,
Government of India). In Kerala and Chandigarh, in addition to NVS, the
program runs in collaboration with KSITM and SSA respectively.
Brief Update for Gujarat:
• Program was launched in 2008
• 13 teachers (miscellaneous staff) trained from 13 JNVs
• 2,245 learners trained across 13 JNVs in 13 districts.

Advancing math, science and engineering education and research
Initiative for Research & Innovation in Science (IRIS)
IRIS is the merger of ‘Intel Science Talent Discovery Fair’ (ISTDF) and
‘Steer the Big Idea’ from CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and DST
(Department of Science & Technology, Government of India). The
mission of IRIS is to promote and nurture science and scientific research
amongst young Indian innovators, recognize and reward outstanding
projects and provide a platform for the young innovators to get
recognized at International events ISEF (International Science and
Engineering Fair) & IEYI (International Exhibition for Young Innovators).
Till 2008, IRIS has impacted over 1.3 million students through
workshops across 24 states governments, 2 Union Territories and
Central Government relationships like NVS, KVS, and other schools.
The Intel ISEF 2008 was held from May 11-17 in Atlanta, GA. Team
India which consisted of 4 individuals and 2 teams contested at Intel
ISEF. Team India won total prize money of $ 17,500 and internships in
various prestigious institutions.
Brief Update for Gujarat:
• 6 workshops carried out in 2008 which trained 209 teachers and
526 teachers
• Gujarat has produced 1 National Fair winner - Hetal Vaishnav in
2008
Intel® Higher Education Program
The Intel ® Higher Education Program focuses on advancing innovation
in key areas of technology and developing a pipeline of diverse worldclass
technical talent for Intel and the broader industry.
• Efforts focus on research, curriculum, student opportunities as well
as entrepreneurship.
• Intel’s higher education support extends to more than 150
universities in 34 countries.
In India, the Higher Education Program is covering more than 300
engineering colleges focusing on developing industry expertise in
cutting edge technology areas like Multi Core, VLSI and supports
research engagements and innovation & entrepreneurship
development programs across the academia.
Brief Update for Gujarat:
• In Gujarat, leading engineering colleges like SV NIT Surat have
participated in National Academic Forum and Asia Academic Forum
conducted by Intel in past.
• Students of DAIIT have participated in the Intel Scholar Program
