Storing Your <strong>iBook</strong> <strong>G4</strong><br />
If you are going to store your <strong>iBook</strong> for a period of time, do one of the following to<br />
prevent your <strong>iBook</strong> battery from be<strong>com</strong>ing <strong>com</strong>pletely depleted:<br />
 Keep the power adapter connected.<br />
 For short-term storage, fully charge your <strong>iBook</strong> battery and store the <strong>com</strong>puter in a<br />
cool, climate-controlled location.<br />
 For long-term storage of six months or longer, charge your battery approximately<br />
halfway (50 percent) and then remove your <strong>iBook</strong> battery.<br />
Safety Instructions for Setting Up and Using<br />
Your <strong>iBook</strong> <strong>G4</strong><br />
Be aware of the following safety tips and warnings as you work with your <strong>iBook</strong>.<br />
Plugging In the Power Adapter<br />
Always leave space around your power adapter. Do not use this equipment in a<br />
location where airflow around the power adapter or <strong>com</strong>puter is confined. Always<br />
disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery before opening the <strong>com</strong>puter to<br />
perform procedures such as installing memory.<br />
Warning: Use only the power adapter that came with your <strong>iBook</strong> <strong>G4</strong> <strong>com</strong>puter.<br />
Adapters for other electronic devices (including other <strong>iBook</strong> models and other<br />
portable <strong>com</strong>puters) might look similar, but they can negatively affect your<br />
<strong>com</strong>puter’s performance or damage your <strong>com</strong>puter.<br />
Connecting a Phone Line to the Internal Modem<br />
Always disconnect the phone cord before opening the <strong>com</strong>puter to perform<br />
procedures such as installing memory.<br />
Warning: Do not connect a digital phone line to the modem; the wrong type of line<br />
could damage the modem. Contact your telephone service provider if you are unsure<br />
whether you have a digital phone line.<br />
Using Connectors and Ports<br />
Never force a connector in to a port. If the connector and port don’t join with<br />
reasonable ease, they probably don’t match. Make sure that the connector matches the<br />
port and that you have positioned the connector correctly in relation to the port.<br />
