Kurzvortrag - Hauptthema 8
CW and time-domain spectroscopy of semiconducting
carbon nanotubes
Tobias Hertel
Vanderbilt University
We present detailed CW and time-domain spectroscopic
studies of surfactant stabilized nanotube suspensions
consisting of individual tubes and small
nanotube bundles. Poyldisperse nanotube samples
are fractionated by tube diameter, metallicity and
aggregate size in density gradients. Apart from the
obvious benefit of this technique for tube type specific
spectroscopic studies we also find that PL quantum
yields of surfactant suspended tubes are at least
a factor of 5 higher than what previous measurements
in polydisperse samples suggested. Time resolved
ensemble and single tube studies allow to
identify mechanisms for non-radiative exciton decay
and ground state recovery. We also compare isolated
tubes with bundles of variable size where the character
of excited states evolves from one dimensionally
confined to more delocalized.
