To enable non-linear processing in the echo canceller, use the non-linear <strong>voice</strong>-<strong>port</strong> configuration<br />

command. Use the no form of this command to disable this feature.<br />

Syntax Description<br />

This command has no arguments or keywords.<br />

Default<br />

The <strong>de</strong>fault for this command is enabled for all <strong>voice</strong>-<strong>port</strong> types.<br />

This command first appeared in Cisco IOS Release 11.3(1)T.<br />

This command is associated with the echo canceller operation. The echo-cancel enable command<br />

must be enabled for the non-linear command to take effect. Use the non-linear command to shut<br />

off any signal if no near-end speech is <strong>de</strong>tected.<br />

Enabling the non-linear command normally improves performance, although some users might<br />

perceive truncation of consonants at the end of sentences when this command is enabled.<br />

This feature is also generally known as residual echo suppression.<br />

Example<br />

The following example enables non-linear call processing:<br />
