to explore. Classes are led by academic leaders
and experts in the field. Register for an annual
membership and enjoy up to 40 classes per
year for only $169 per individual or $330 per

Writing Your Memoir
Are you interested in writing your memoir? Do you have stories you
want to pass on, or have you even considered publishing them?
This is the class for you. We’ll talk about the differences between
family histories and memoirs and what makes them publishable or
private. All your questions will be answered!

A Nation of Immigrants: Past, Present, and Future
The United States is often described as a nation of immigrants.
In this course you will examine the role immigrants have played
in shaping the nation, investigate the history of immigration to the
U.S., and in particular to Minnesota from central Europe. We will
review documents in the collections of the University of Minnesota’s
Immigration History Research Center Archives.

Theodore Roosevelt: The Presidential Years
Learn about Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency including
succession after an assassination, Oliver Wendell Holmes and
the Supreme Court, diplomatic history (The Taft Accords of 1905
and The Gentlemen’s Agreement of 1907), major legislation (meat
inspection, food, drugs) and the building of the Panama Canal.

Accentuate the Positive: Minnesota’s Effort in
Supporting The Second World War
The song “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive” hit the charts in 1944
and symbolized America’s industrial might in wartime. This two-part
series examines the supporting role played by Minnesota with a
particular emphasis on aviation. America’s military might grew from
military, industrial, and commercial industries that sought successful
techniques to accentuate aspects of mass production that helped
achieve victory.

Exotic Armchair Travels: Iceland/Norway &
Easter Island/Galapagos
On the first night, visit Iceland with its beautiful scenery, interesting
history and curious wildlife along with viewing photos of walruses,
seals, polar bear, glaciers and birds of Norway. On the second
night, visit Easter Island and the Galapagos Islands and discover
their contrasting differences between early human settlers,
monuments and artifacts of Easter Island and the resident birds of
the Galapagos Islands.
