RogeRs ReCReATIoN skATINg *Learn to Skate | age 3-adult The Basic Skill Program, designed by U.S. Figure Skating (USFSA), is taught by sanctioned instructors and serves the needs of hockey, recreational and figure skaters. The program is designed for all ages and provides a simple, but progressive, method of group iceskating instruction. Lessons are 30 minutes (on- and off-ice time) with free open skate passes for practicing. Rental skates available for $2/pair weekly; helmets available for $1/week. Helmets required for ages 3-6 and hockey classes. No double-blade skates allowed, nor are parents allowed on ice during lesson times except for Parent/Tot classes. Please note that it is common for children to repeat a class before advancing to the next level. Attendance is important to learn new skills that build on the previous class each week. Arrive 20 minutes early the first day of class to pick up badges. No pro-rating of fee for classes missed. Open Skates available to practice and/or seek additional help when instructors are on-site. No refunds once session starts, except for extenuating circumstances. Register online through ISD 728 Community Education website at www.728communityed.com or by phone at 763-241-3520. The Hockey Prep classes teach the basic skating skills needed to play hockey. Classes for beginners to slightly advanced skaters. Sticks will be introduced no later than the 3rd week, pending abilities. Helmets, shin guards, hockey gloves and stick are required; other protective gear is recommended. Skaters will be grouped according to ability at the first class. This program allows for flexibility to deviate from skill-sets to focus on skills needed by ability of skaters. This hour-long class is broken down into stations or small groups with some free time. hockey Prep Jr | age 4-5 Designed for first -time skaters who want to play hockey, but have little or no skating ability. Utilization of Snowplow Sam 1-3 classes will be initiated. Helmets, shin guards, hockey gloves and stick are required; other protective gear is recommended. 45 minutes instruction and 15 minutes free time.
