Citizenship & ESL/Citizen Classes
In this 8-week class, you’ll learn how to:
• fill out the INS N-400 application
• answer US history and government questions
• prepare for the test
• speak in the oral interview

Join our Team of ABE & ESL Volunteers
Here’s your opportunity to make a contribution to your community in
a personal way. Classroom and one-to-one volunteers are needed
for a variety of positions. The following opportunities are available:
classroom assistant, clerical assistant and technology assistant.
Work with individuals or small groups tutoring basic skills or English
as a Second Language. If you would like to learn more about
becoming a volunteer, attend a volunteer orientation.

Are you interested but don’t know what to expect? What is ESL and
GED? What does a volunteer do? Attend an orientation to learn
more about the Literacy Volunteer Program and how you can help!

Childcare Availability
Free on-site childcare is available for most Adult Basic Education
and English as a Second Language classes. You must register at

Welcome New Instructor
Rallou Rice
The Elk River Learning Lab
extends a warm welcome
to Rallou Rice who started
employment as an English as a
Second Language Instructor in
August 2012. She volunteered
with the Elk River Learning Lab
from 2004 until 2008 which
sparked her interest in teaching
and ultimately launched her
journey toward earning a Masters
Degree to teach ESL.
Rallou lives with her family in Rogers. Her three children attend
schools in Rogers. She likes to read write, garden, watch movies
and spend time with family and friends.
She likes helping students improve their ability to speak, write, and
understand English. Rallou was born in Greece and was an English
as a Second Language student too! Her experience gives her the
unique ability to provide empathy and support for ESL students
from the perspective of someone who has gone through the same
experiences of a new immigrant.
