Private Party Rentals 

Join us after regular pool hours and host your very own private 

pool party. A great place for family reunions, corporate parties, 

birthdays and graduations. Two-hour minimum required.

Pool Rental Policies and Procedures 

Parties must be scheduled five (5) days in advance. 

A three (3) day notice must be given to reschedule. 

A rescheduling fee of $10 will be charged. 

If the pool is closed due to inclement weather, the party can be 

rescheduled at no additional charge. 

The rental fee is non-refundable if the party is cancelled. 

One adult per 10 children required.

Swimming Lessons 

General Information 

1. Parents/caregivers are allowed to watch from the deck area. 

2. No make-ups for missed lessons. 

3. Classes cancelled due to weather will be made up on Friday. 

4. Towels are not provided. 

5. Choose your swimming level from the descriptions below. 

6. Choose your session(s) and day(s) of the week on page 7. 

7. Register by mail, in person, drop off in the blue mail box in 

the Munster Town Hall Parking Lot, or call with your credit 

card information.

Swim Lesson Descriptions 

Infant and Parent (30 min.) Ages 9-18 months - This class allows 

you and your infant to become comfortable with this new 

and exciting aquatic environment. Adults do not need to know 

how to swim. 

Parent and Toddler (30 min.) Ages 18 months - 3 years - Children 

continue their introduction to the water when they are developmentally 

ready. This class is designed to help children 

become comfortable in the water with a parent nearby and to encourage 

exploration on their own. Here children will learn elementary 

water skills such as proper water entry, front and back 

float with assistance, kicking on the wall, beginning stroke movements, 

and water safety skills. Adults do not need to know how 

to swim. 

Preschool (30 min.) Ages 3 years and older - This is the first 

class where children will begin to get comfortable in the water by 

themselves. Students will explore the shallow area and play 

games that will help them become comfortable with swimming. 

They will continue learning beginning swimming skills such as 

floating, kicking along the wall, putting their face in the water, beginning 

stroke movements, and pool rules and safety skills. 

Beginner (45 min.) Ages 3 years and older - This class will focus 

on building upon the basics of swimming. Students should be 

comfortable alone in the water. Skills such as submerging of the 

head, floating, kicking, and beginning freestyle movements are 

the focus of this class. 

Intermediate (45 min.) Ages 5 and older - The main focus of this 

class is the continuation of stroke refinement for freestyle as well 

as learning proper technique for backstroke. Students should be 

able to push off the wall and swim five yards for this class. 

Advanced (45 min.) Ages 5 and older - The students in this 

class have a good grasp of freestyle and backstroke. Students 

will continue stroke refinement for these two strokes as well as 

learn the other two competitive strokes of butterfly and breaststroke. 

Private Swimming or Diving Lessons for Adults, Children, 

Competitive Swimmers, or Special Recreation Individuals - 

Learn at your own pace with private and semi-private lessons.

Discover Scuba Diving 

Discover Scuba Diving is a terrific way to find out what scuba 

diving is really like before you take the initial certification course. 

Have you ever wondered what it is like to breath underwater? 

You will learn about the equipment, safety and perform some 

basic skills necessary to become a certified diver. Everything is 

included. (A great corporate team building event.)

Open Water Diver 

If you want to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see 

the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts! Virtually 

anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit and comfortable in 

the water can earn the PADI Open Water Diver Certification. 

Fees include all classroom materials and all scuba gear except 

personal gear, mask, booties and fins which can be purchased at 

Diver’s Lair with your satisfaction guaranteed. The first two 

hours take place outside the pool and the second two hours are 

in the pool. Limited to 8 students. *No Class: 06/24

PADI Seal Team 

The PADI Seal Team is a great way to introduce young divers to 

the underwater world. Kids will enjoy action-packed fun and 

learn fundamental diving skills by doing five exciting scuba 

AquaMissions over the course of one week in a controlled pool 

environment. Parents are invited to watch as kids meet new 

friends, have fun and learn. Course includes the use of a kids 

wet suit, course materials, PADI Seal Team AquaMission Log 

Book and AquaMission Activity Book. Students are required to 

have their own mask, snorkel, fins and dive slate which can be 

purchased at Diver’s Lair for approximately $60.

Legend has it that the rainstick was invented to make rainy 

weather. The rainstick is a type of tubular rattle that has been 

used by many cultures in various ways throughout the ages. In 

this hour-and-a-half workshop, children will create their very own 

aboriginal rainstick. Children will have the opportunity to see a 

real aboriginal rainstick up-close. Class is limited to 15 students.

The Chicago Bulls Training Academy invites 

boys and girls, ages 5 to 12, to become 

a part of the Chicago Bulls effort to 

bring championship instruction to our 

young players. The Chicago Bulls Training Academy wants to 

improve each player's game including ball handling, passing, 

shooting, rebounding, individual moves, footwork and team concepts. 

On the final day each participant will receive an evaluation

Chicago White Sox Training 

Center 

White Sox Training Camps are a grass roots 

approach to nurturing a lifelong love for the 

greatest game on the face of the earth. The 

Little Sluggers program will introduce the 5-6 

age group to the game of baseball. LS allows 

players to work on throwing, hitting and beginner 

baseball fundamentals. The STC1 camp will focus on the 

essential aspects including: throwing, hitting, bunting, fielding, 

pitching and base-running. Throughout the week, fundamentals 

will be reinforced by using fun skill games and the top 30 qualifiers 

in each age group will compete in the finals at U.S. Cellular 

Field in September. On the final day all players will get the opportunity 

to judge their improvement by playing a game. Each 

participant will get an exclusive experience at U.S. Cellular 

Field, including: 6 ticket vouchers, academy hat, t-shirt, parade 

on the field, have a Q&A session with a White Sox personality 

and current player! Both student to instructor ratios will be 10:1

Junior High Tennis 

Are you getting ready for high school tennis? This program is 

for you! You will participate in drills and competition each time 

we meet strengthening your technique, tactics, and match play. 

This will be a fun, dynamic group where each player gets the 

opportunity to hit with people of different playing styles. 

Classes will be taught by Karen Blaauw.

Smash and Splash Camp 

In all camps, the morning will be dedicated to learning the proper 

skills and techniques. There will be 1 1/2 hour lunch break 

where your child will eat their lunch and either swim at Munster 

Community Pool or play random games with staff and other participants. 

Following lunch, the last two hours will be game-oriented. 

This camp is a great opportunity to enhance your skills 

and better your game.

From color theory to highlighting and contouring, you'll 

gain important hands-on experience in virtually 

every aspect of makeup. Classes are limited in size 

so that every student gets the chance to practice what 

they are learning: foundation, blush, highlighting and 

contouring, day-to-night eye makeup, brow shaping, 

eyelash application, color blending, bronzers and corrective 

makeup techniques. You'll also learn about the tools of the trade: 

brushes! What they are made of, the various shapes and sizes and what 

works best for each particular makeup formula and technique. NOTE:

This outdoor entertainment stage sits on the edge of 

Maynard Lake and overlooks a beautifully landscaped 

tiered seating area for up to 2000 people. Beautiful

bridge surround the lake and compliment the stage with 

scenic views. 

Complete with audio equipment, lighting and electricity, 

this stage is the perfect setting for outdoor ceremonies, 

receptions, and social and business gatherings.

The View Restaurant 

The View is located inside the Centennial Park Clubhouse and 

offers a casual, family-friendly dining experience. A great place 

to enjoy a lunch or early dinner with selections including bunker 

burgers, assorted hot and cold sandwiches, specialty salads, 

gourmet soups, delicious daily specials and desserts as well as 

kids’ meal choices. 

Fountain drinks and alcoholic beverages are also served.

Dog Park 

Located in beautiful Centennial Park, this 3-acre dog park is 

the perfect place for your family and furry friends. The dog park 

is a member only park and offers dog-size drinking fountains, a 

dog playground, fenced in security, dog doo doo bags and a 

hilltop view. 

Users pay an annual fee to offset the care and maintenance of 

the dog park. All dogs must be licensed and proof of immunization 

must be submitted before a pass is issued. There is a 

three-dog limit for Munster Residents and a two-dog limit for 

non-residents. A lanyard and identification card will be issued 

and must be worn at all times when using the dog park.

Park Ordinances 


Listed below are the Town of Munster Ordinances which should 

be observed by all park visitors to keep our parks beautiful and 

safe. 

- All parks are open 6:00 am to dusk. 

- Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are prohibited in 

all parks. 

- Dogs must be on a leash and owners are responsible for 

cleaning up after their pets. 

- Unauthorized use of the dog park at Centennial Park will result 

in a $500 fine to all parties liable. 

- No go-karts, mopeds, or any other motor driven vehicles 

shall be operated in any of the parks. 

- No golfing, except with a wiffle ball, is allowed in any park. 

- Camping is not allowed in any of the parks. 

- Open burning and fireworks are not allowed in any of the 

parks. 

- No skateboards or roller blades allowed on the tennis courts. 

- Persons displaying permits have priority usage of shelter, 

fields and courts. 

- The moving or relocating of soccer goals in the parks is not 

permitted without prior approval and will result in a $500 fine. 

- All groups of 25 or more must obtain a contract/permit to use 

the park shelters. 

Munster Bike Path 

Munster is proud to offer eleven miles of continuous bike path. 

The path connects communities along the Indiana and Illinois 

state line, linking residential neighborhoods, industrial and office 

parks, shopping areas, forest preserves, and greenways. 

The areas designated as bike paths may be used for biking, 

roller skating, rollerblading, walking, jogging, and other personal 

recreational activities.

Commemorate your furry friend with a special “dog bone” dog 

plaque. These plastic resin 8” bones are beige with green trim 

and can be engraved with your special wording in green lettering

The cost of the bone is $50 and all proceeds go toward upkeep 

of the dog park. Applications are available at the Town Hall, 

Centennial Park, and online at www.munster.org.

Social Center

Located in Community Park, the Social Center is the perfect 

place for your family gatherings, showers, parties or business 

meetings. The Social Center (125 max.) is fully accessible and 

offers a kitchen, two meeting areas, tables and chairs, and an 

outdoor patio for your convenience.

Renters must be at least 21 years old. The Social Center is a

this beautifully wooded area and historical site is the perfect 

setting for your wedding, party, reunion, or photographs. Heritage 

Park is handicap accessible with drop off parking near the 

Kaske House.

*Wedding package includes 2 hour wedding, 1 hour rehearsal, 

50 white chairs set up in rows, 1 site supervisor on duty, bride 

and bridesmaid access to Kaske House for dress and photographs, 

seasonal plants provided on/near gazebo.

Hall. All Rentals are non-refundable except for cases of inclement 


Memorial Tree Program 

Plant a Tree as a Living Memorial 

What a wonderful way to mark a special moment in time by 

purchasing a tree in the name of a loved one, special friend, or 

special occasion. Trees are planted twice per year (May-June 

and September-October). 

Once your tree is planted, you will receive a confirmation letter 

describing the location of your living memorial tree and a personalize 

certificate suitable for framing.

Refund Policy 

Munster Parks and Recreation is committed 

to providing the highest quality 

recreation activities, events, and programs. 

If a person is not completely 

satisfied with a program or service due 

to circumstances under the department’s 

control, Munster Parks and 

Recreation will arrange for the person 

to repeat the class at no charge, use 

the fee for another class during the 

same season, or receive a refund. 

A Full Refund Will Be Granted . . . 

1. If a participant is dissatisfied 

with a Munster Parks and 

Recreation class, program or 

activity due to circumstances 

under the department’s 

control. Refund requests 

must be made prior to the 

midpoint of the class, 

program or activity. 

2. If the refund is initiated by 


(i.e. cancelled class, low 

enrollment). 

3. For injury or illness, with a 

doctor’s note. (Once a 

program has begun, only a 

prorated fee for classes met will 

be charged). 

4. On Trips or Shows if the seat 

can be resold or if Munster 

Parks and Recreation cancels 

the trip or show. 

All Other Refunds (unless otherwise 

noted) 

1. Refunds will be issued prior to 

the start of a program if the 

program enrollment is greater 

than the minimum, minus a 

$10 service charge per 

program plus the cost of 

supplies (if applicable). 

2. After the start of the program, 

no refund will be issued except 

for illness/injury, accompanied 

by a doctor’s note. 

Refunds will not be granted for the 

following: schedule conflicts, vacations, 

special events, tickets, coupons, 

field reservations, facility rental fees 

and other reasons beyond our department’s 

control. 

The original receipt and the refund request 

form must accompany any request 

for a refund within 6 months of 

program start date. If you are unable 

to find your original receipt, a refund 

affidavit form will be provided for you 

to complete. Both the refund request 

and refund affidavit forms are available 

at the Town Hall Customer Service 

Center or Munster Parks and Recreation 

Office.

Refund Policy Other Vendors 

Several of our programs require payment 

to be made directly to the vendor, 

which we will accept at the Park Office. 

However, those organizations have 

their own refund policies. Policies will 

be available at the Park Office and can 

be requested at time of registration. 

Register Early 

Often times participants will wait until 

the last minute to register for a program. 

Disappointment occurs because 

a program has been filled or possibly 

cancelled due to low enrollment. Ensure 

yourself a spot and help keep our 

programs running by registering early.

The Town of Munster accepts Master- 

Card and Visa credit cards. American 

Express may be accepted in the near

Lightning Prediction 

and Warning System 

The Thorguard Lightning Prediction 

System was installed in the parks to 

warn patrons of the danger of lightning. 

When the 15-second warning horn 

sounds you should: 

1. Clear the park immediately or 

seek proper shelter. 

2. Do not return to the park or 

move out of the area until short 

horn blasts sound. This is the 

“all clear sound.” 

3. If the all clear sound does not 

sound after 30 minutes, 

dangerous weather is still in 

the area and the activity 

should be cancelled. Stop and 

seek shelter anytime you 

believe lightning threatens 

you, even if a signal has not 

been sounded.

Typo/Human Error 

Occasionally, there may be an error in 

the brochure or newspapers in dates, 

times, or fees. We apologize for such 

errors and our staff will do everything 

possible to correct the situation 

promptly; however, we hope that you 

will understand that we cannot honor 

fees that do not reflect the cost of operating 

our programs.

and educational programming, 

some recreation activities may need to

as a means of honoring or remembering 

loved ones and friends.

Munster/Dyer Partnership 

Through the Munster/Dyer Parks and 

Recreation Partnership, residents of 

Munster and Dyer can register for park 

and recreation programs in either community 

at the resident rate. Facility 

and shelter rentals, Munster Community 

Pool season passes, Dog Park 

passes and Keen-Ager Membership 

fees do not fall under this partnership.

On occasion, Munster Parks and

Calumet Region Camera Club (wearing

and videos in the future. If you 

do not wish to be used in a promotion, 

please notify the photographer at the
