injured and doctors had said he would not be able to survive, but he did<br />

and became well. He was saddened by his recovery and <strong>of</strong>ten used to<br />

cry, thinking that perhaps he was not good enough to be accepted by<br />

Allah as a martyr. He was a very good husband and a very good man.<br />

“Q. So what do you want your sons to be when they grow up?<br />

“Umm Saburah: (Firmly) They will be Mujahideen insha’Allah.<br />

That was their father’s wish and there is no choice about it.<br />

“Q. How will you ensure that they do take that route?<br />

“Umm Saburah: They do have other brothers (in Islam) who were<br />

my husband’s friends and they have already instilled in them these<br />

values. They look up to their father and what he did with admiration<br />

and respect, and they look up to his friends now. My daughter feels<br />

angry at the whole situation though and I am working on trying to give<br />

as much love as I can to all my children. It’s hard, but Alhamdulillah.”<br />

Assassination in Cairo<br />

“Members <strong>of</strong> the Egyptian Revolution Organization decided to assassinate<br />

a high-ranking Israeli living in Cairo.<br />

“2. Surveillance <strong>of</strong> the target was carried out for a period <strong>of</strong> time.<br />

The exits and entrances to the theater <strong>of</strong> operations were studied. The<br />

time was set to execute the operation at eight am 8/20/85, when the<br />

Israeli target would leave for work at the Israeli embassy in Cairo.<br />

“3. A car was purchased for use in the operation. Someone’s identification<br />

was purchased indirectly, the photo was removed, and that <strong>of</strong><br />

one <strong>of</strong> the organization’s members was put [in its place].<br />

“4. The organization members participating in the operation (there<br />

were four <strong>of</strong> them) rode in a car belonging to one <strong>of</strong> them. They put<br />

their weapons in the car (they had hidden their weapons in tennis<br />

racket covers). Before arriving at the theater <strong>of</strong> operations, they left<br />

that car and got into the operations vehicle, which was close to the site<br />

<strong>of</strong> the operation.<br />

“5. After riding in the car, it became apparent the car was not in<br />

good running order and had leaked a lot <strong>of</strong> oil, so they decided to delay<br />

the operation.<br />

“6. While they were returning in the car in poor condition, they<br />

saw a man from the Israeli Mosad, and the operation leader decided to<br />
