experiment have to be developed to describe <strong>the</strong> extremely small fracti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> total cross<br />

secti<strong>on</strong> lead<strong>in</strong>g to fusi<strong>on</strong>. Predicti<strong>on</strong>s based <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong>se <strong>model</strong>s are useful <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> preparati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong><br />

next generati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> experiments. The macroscopic <strong>model</strong>s ([14], [15], [16]) do not reproduce <strong>the</strong><br />

excitati<strong>on</strong> functi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> reacti<strong>on</strong>s used for <strong>the</strong> syn<strong>the</strong>sis <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> super<strong>heavy</strong> elements. Compensat-<br />

<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> dissipative losses <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> relative moti<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> macroscopical dynamical <strong>model</strong> (MDM) <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Swiatecki [16] and <strong>the</strong> surface fricti<strong>on</strong> <strong>model</strong> by Fröbrich [15] have to take an extra-extra-push<br />

energy <strong>in</strong>to account lead<strong>in</strong>g to an excitati<strong>on</strong> energy <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> compound nucleus which results too<br />

large compared to <strong>the</strong> experimental data for super<strong>heavy</strong> elements [17]. In additi<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> MDM<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cept yields too large evaporati<strong>on</strong> residue cross secti<strong>on</strong>s as dem<strong>on</strong>strated for example for <strong>the</strong><br />

100 Mo + 100 Mo and 110 Pd + 110 Pd reacti<strong>on</strong>s [18] s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong> MDM does not take <strong>in</strong>to account<br />

<strong>the</strong> competiti<strong>on</strong> between complete fusi<strong>on</strong> and quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> processes. In <strong>the</strong> MDM, <strong>the</strong> follow-<br />

<strong>in</strong>g qualitative picture was c<strong>on</strong>sidered: i) after <strong>the</strong> capture, <strong>the</strong> neck between <strong>the</strong> <strong>nuclei</strong> grows<br />

quite quickly and a deformed united system is formed; (ii) <strong>the</strong> united system ei<strong>the</strong>r overcomes<br />

<strong>the</strong> saddle po<strong>in</strong>t and moves to <strong>the</strong> equilibrium state <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> compound nucleus or goes to <strong>the</strong><br />

quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> channel. The choice <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> channel <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> complete fusi<strong>on</strong> or quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> depends <strong>on</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>itial k<strong>in</strong>etic energy <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> projectile.<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r method to calculate fusi<strong>on</strong> cross secti<strong>on</strong>s is based <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> d<strong>in</strong>uclear system (DNS)<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cept [19]. With<strong>in</strong> this c<strong>on</strong>cept, calculati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> complete fusi<strong>on</strong> probability and optimal<br />

excitati<strong>on</strong> energy for <strong>the</strong> producti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> compound <strong>nuclei</strong> between Z=102 and Z=114 are <strong>in</strong><br />

agreement with <strong>the</strong> experimental data ([20], [21] and [22]). The <strong>model</strong> based <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> DNS-<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cept gives an explanati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> reducti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fusi<strong>on</strong> cross secti<strong>on</strong>s by quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> and<br />

can be used for <strong>the</strong> predicti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> evaporati<strong>on</strong> residue cross secti<strong>on</strong>s <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> producti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>heavy</strong><br />

and super<strong>heavy</strong> elements by cold and hot fusi<strong>on</strong> reacti<strong>on</strong>s [22]. The ma<strong>in</strong> idea <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS-<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cept is <strong>the</strong> assumpti<strong>on</strong> that complete fusi<strong>on</strong> and deep <strong>in</strong>elastic transfer reacti<strong>on</strong>s are similar<br />

nuclear processes. Both <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong>m are realized accord<strong>in</strong>g to similar scenarios. The scenario <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<strong>the</strong> complete fusi<strong>on</strong> process is as follows. At <strong>the</strong> capture stage, after full dissipati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong><br />

collisi<strong>on</strong> k<strong>in</strong>etic energy, <strong>the</strong> DNS is formed. The complete fusi<strong>on</strong> process is <strong>the</strong> DNS evoluti<strong>on</strong><br />

that proceeds via nucle<strong>on</strong> transfer, shell by shell from <strong>on</strong>e nucleus to <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r. The DNS <strong>nuclei</strong><br />

reta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>in</strong>dividuality throughout <strong>the</strong>ir way to <strong>the</strong> compound nucleus. This peculiarity <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<strong>the</strong> DNS evoluti<strong>on</strong> is <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>sequence <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> shell structure <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> <strong>nuclei</strong>.<br />
