The present fusi<strong>on</strong> <strong>model</strong>s can be dist<strong>in</strong>guished by <strong>the</strong> choice <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> relevant collective variables<br />

al<strong>on</strong>g which fusi<strong>on</strong> ma<strong>in</strong>ly occurs. While many <strong>model</strong>s study <strong>the</strong> fusi<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> R at a practically<br />

fixed value <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> η, <strong>the</strong> DNS <strong>model</strong> [34] c<strong>on</strong>siders <strong>the</strong> DNS evoluti<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> mass asymmetry by<br />

nucle<strong>on</strong> or cluster transfers as <strong>the</strong> ma<strong>in</strong> path to <strong>the</strong> compound nucleus. The DNS <strong>model</strong><br />

assumes basically that <strong>the</strong> neck degree <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> freedom is fixed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> evoluti<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> η and <strong>the</strong> <strong>nuclei</strong><br />

are h<strong>in</strong>dered from melt<strong>in</strong>g toge<strong>the</strong>r by a variati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> relative distance R. In this chapter, we<br />

study dynamical restricti<strong>on</strong>s for <strong>the</strong> growth <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> neck <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> DNS and suggest proper methods<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> calculati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS <strong>in</strong>ertia tensor.<br />

There are various macroscopical and microscopical approaches to calculat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ertia<br />

tensor [82]. The macroscopical approaches (see, for example, [16, 83]) are based <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> hydro-<br />

dynamical <strong>model</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> nucleus. A calculati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ertia tensor with a <strong>the</strong>ory for quantum<br />

fluid dynamics is suggested <strong>in</strong> Ref. [84]. By us<strong>in</strong>g a random-matrix <strong>model</strong> to describe <strong>the</strong><br />

coupl<strong>in</strong>g between a collective nuclear variable and <strong>in</strong>tr<strong>in</strong>sic degrees <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> freedom, and with <strong>the</strong><br />

help <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> functi<strong>on</strong>al <strong>in</strong>tegral approach, mass parameters are derived <strong>in</strong> Ref. [85]. In <strong>the</strong> l<strong>in</strong>ear<br />

resp<strong>on</strong>se <strong>the</strong>ory [86, 87] <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ertia tensor is found for fissi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>nuclei</strong>. The microscopical<br />

approaches ma<strong>in</strong>ly use <strong>the</strong> crank<strong>in</strong>g type expressi<strong>on</strong> and perform calculati<strong>on</strong>s <strong>in</strong> different s<strong>in</strong>gle<br />

particle bases apply<strong>in</strong>g adiabatic [40, 88] or diabatic [57] two-center shell <strong>model</strong>s. Difficulties <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> crank<strong>in</strong>g type calculati<strong>on</strong>s arise for collective moti<strong>on</strong>s with large amplitudes, for example, <strong>in</strong><br />

fusi<strong>on</strong> or fissi<strong>on</strong>, due to pseudo—cross<strong>in</strong>gs or cross<strong>in</strong>gs <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> levels <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong>gle particle spectrum.<br />

Some publicati<strong>on</strong>s disregard <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong>s from <strong>the</strong> cross<strong>in</strong>gs (pseudo—cross<strong>in</strong>gs), which<br />
