In <strong>the</strong> present chapter we have presented an <strong>in</strong>troducti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> experimental and <strong>the</strong>oretical<br />

knowledge <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> field <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> transuranium and super<strong>heavy</strong> elements. A brief review about <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>model</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fusi<strong>on</strong> based <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> DNS-c<strong>on</strong>cept as well as a comparis<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> this <strong>model</strong> with o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>the</strong>oretical <strong>model</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fusi<strong>on</strong> have been presented.<br />

In chapter 2 we give a summary <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> ma<strong>in</strong> ideas about <str<strong>on</strong>g>diabaticity</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>in</strong> <strong>heavy</strong>-i<strong>on</strong> collisi<strong>on</strong>s.<br />

Moreover, <strong>the</strong> methods <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> calculati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a diabatic basis <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> TCSM are expla<strong>in</strong>ed. The<br />

potential energy <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS as a functi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> relevant collective variables <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> diabatic<br />

TCSM is shown <strong>in</strong> chapters 3 and 4 for different <strong>heavy</strong> systems. In chapter 5 <strong>the</strong> calculati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

microscopical mass parameters <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS formed <strong>in</strong> reacti<strong>on</strong>s with <strong>heavy</strong> <strong>nuclei</strong> is presented<br />

by us<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> adiabatic and diabatic TCSM and <strong>the</strong> width <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> s<strong>in</strong>gle-particle states. The<br />

competiti<strong>on</strong> between two possible fusi<strong>on</strong> channels <strong>in</strong> el<strong>on</strong>gati<strong>on</strong> λ and <strong>in</strong> mass asymmetry η is<br />

studied for various <strong>heavy</strong> systems <strong>in</strong> chapter 6. In chapter 7 <strong>the</strong> quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> process <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong><br />

DNS is evaluated solv<strong>in</strong>g a transport master-equati<strong>on</strong> for <strong>the</strong> exchange <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> nucle<strong>on</strong>s between <strong>the</strong><br />

parts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS, which also takes <strong>the</strong> decay <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> el<strong>on</strong>gati<strong>on</strong> λ <strong>in</strong>to account. A<br />

summary and <strong>the</strong> outlook <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> work are given <strong>in</strong> chapter 8.<br />
