Figure 1-2: Two ways <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> evoluti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS to quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> and fusi<strong>on</strong>.<br />

With<strong>in</strong> this <strong>model</strong> <strong>the</strong> evaporati<strong>on</strong> residue cross-secti<strong>on</strong> can be written as<br />

Jmax<br />

=<br />

σER(Ec.m.)<br />

J=0<br />

σc(Ec.m.,J) · PCN(Ec.m.,J) · Wsur(Ec.m.,J). (1.1)<br />

The capture cross-secti<strong>on</strong> σc describes <strong>the</strong> transiti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> collid<strong>in</strong>g <strong>nuclei</strong> over <strong>the</strong> Coulomb<br />

barrier and <strong>the</strong> formati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS when <strong>the</strong> k<strong>in</strong>etic energy is transformed <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> excitati<strong>on</strong><br />

energy <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> DNS. This <strong>in</strong>itial stage <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> a collisi<strong>on</strong> was recently studied with a dynamical <strong>model</strong><br />

[38]. Calculati<strong>on</strong>s were performed for 48 Ca + 244 Pu and 74,76 Ge + 208 Pb reacti<strong>on</strong>s which could<br />

lead to <strong>the</strong> formati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> super<strong>heavy</strong> element Z=114. It was shown that for <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>sidered<br />

reacti<strong>on</strong>s, <strong>the</strong>re is an energy w<strong>in</strong>dow for <strong>the</strong> bombard<strong>in</strong>g energy Ec.m. at which <strong>the</strong> capture<br />

cross-secti<strong>on</strong> σc is large enough to have a physical <strong>in</strong>terest. The value <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> J max corresp<strong>on</strong>ds<br />

to Ec.m. and is larger than <strong>the</strong> limit <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> value <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> J for <strong>the</strong> compound nucleus formati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The probability <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> complete fusi<strong>on</strong> PCN depends <strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong> competiti<strong>on</strong> between <strong>the</strong> complete<br />
