• The time-dependent transiti<strong>on</strong> between <strong>the</strong> diabatic and adiabatic potentials is a slower<br />

process than <strong>the</strong> quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> process and <strong>the</strong> system has no time for destroy<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> ”nuclear<br />

memory” about <strong>the</strong> diabatic (structural) forbiddeness for <strong>the</strong> moti<strong>on</strong> to smaller el<strong>on</strong>gati<strong>on</strong>s λ.<br />

• The fusi<strong>on</strong> probabilities obta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> λ-channel are much smaller than <strong>the</strong> probabilities<br />

obta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> η-channel <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fusi<strong>on</strong>, which are similar to <strong>the</strong> experimental values. The heavier<br />

<strong>the</strong> system, <strong>the</strong> greater is <strong>the</strong> difference between <strong>the</strong> fusi<strong>on</strong> barriers and probabilities <strong>in</strong> both<br />

channels <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fusi<strong>on</strong>. The λ-channel is practically closed.<br />

• The fusi<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> mass asymmetry degree <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> freedom c<strong>on</strong>sidered <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> d<strong>in</strong>uclear system<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cept dom<strong>in</strong>ates <strong>the</strong> complete fusi<strong>on</strong> process for <strong>heavy</strong> systems.<br />

• Us<strong>in</strong>g a transport master-equati<strong>on</strong> to describe <strong>the</strong> nucle<strong>on</strong> transfer between <strong>the</strong> <strong>nuclei</strong><br />

form<strong>in</strong>g a d<strong>in</strong>uclear system, which takes <strong>the</strong> decay <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> d<strong>in</strong>uclear system <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> el<strong>on</strong>gati<strong>on</strong> λ<br />

<strong>in</strong>to account, <strong>the</strong> quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> products <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fusi<strong>on</strong> reacti<strong>on</strong>s are correctly described and are <strong>in</strong><br />

agreement with <strong>the</strong> experimental data.<br />

• The quasi-fissi<strong>on</strong> process is an important factor which reduces <strong>the</strong> probability <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> complete<br />

fusi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>heavy</strong> <strong>nuclei</strong>.<br />

8.2 Outlook<br />

The search <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fissi<strong>on</strong> path <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> multi-dimensi<strong>on</strong>al space <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> collective variables is still an<br />

open problem. The fissi<strong>on</strong> process is usually c<strong>on</strong>sidered as an adiabatic process where <strong>the</strong><br />

relevant collective variables are <strong>the</strong> el<strong>on</strong>gati<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> mass asymmetry, <strong>the</strong> neck coord<strong>in</strong>ate and<br />

<strong>the</strong> deformati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fragments [94]. In additi<strong>on</strong> to <strong>the</strong> potential energy, <strong>the</strong> fricti<strong>on</strong> and<br />

<strong>the</strong> mass tensor play an important role <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> dynamics <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fissi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g system. There is not<br />

yet a fissi<strong>on</strong> <strong>model</strong> <strong>in</strong> which it is possible to expla<strong>in</strong> all experimental observables <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fissi<strong>on</strong><br />

process, e.g., mass and charge distributi<strong>on</strong>s, total k<strong>in</strong>etic energy distributi<strong>on</strong>, two-dimensi<strong>on</strong>al<br />

mass-total k<strong>in</strong>etic energy distributi<strong>on</strong>, angular distributi<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fragments, etc. The most<br />

promis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>model</strong> is <strong>the</strong> Brosa <strong>model</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> multi-modal fissi<strong>on</strong> ([121], [122]).<br />

It will be <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g to study as a possible fissi<strong>on</strong> path <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>verse path used by <strong>the</strong> d<strong>in</strong>uclear<br />

system <strong>model</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> fusi<strong>on</strong>. The fissi<strong>on</strong> phenomen<strong>on</strong> could be treated as a two-step process: a<br />

light nucleus (α-particle) is created with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> diffuse edge <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>the</strong> fissi<strong>on</strong><strong>in</strong>g nucleus; <strong>the</strong>n this<br />
