permitted under these Rules. This rule does not apply to a player whose<br />

partner in doubles has been forced to withdraw or retire from their match.<br />

h) Late Cancellations<br />

In the event that a tournament cancels late, players who had entered that<br />

tournament may be placed as “next in” on the Main Draw or Qualifying<br />

Acceptance List, as appropriate, of another tournament taking place in the<br />

same week.<br />

i) Vacancies in the Draws<br />

Vacancies occurring in the Main Draw will be filled from the Qualifying<br />

Acceptance list or from the Alternate list according to the System of Merit.<br />

Once the Qualifying sign-in has closed, the Qualifying Acceptance list is the<br />

list of those players who have signed in for the Qualifying competition.<br />

If vacancies occur after the Qualifying competition has started, in the Main<br />

Draw these may be filled only by Lucky Losers.<br />

Lucky Losers shall be selected as follows:<br />

The order of the ranked players shall be randomly drawn, thereafter the order<br />

of the unranked players shall be drawn.<br />

Special Ranking shall not be used.<br />

In the Qualifying, vacancies created after the start of the competition shall be<br />

filled by players who have signed the Alternate list, selected in accordance<br />

with the applicable System of Merit.<br />

If there is no Qualifying, vacancies in the Main Draw shall be filled by<br />

players on the Alternate list, selected according to the System of Merit.<br />

j) Sign-in Requirements for Substitutes<br />

i) Alternates and Lucky Losers (singles and doubles) must be present and<br />

sign-in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of play. When the last<br />

round of Qualifying and the first round of Main Draw are played on the<br />

same day, Lucky Losers must sign-in no later than 30 minutes after the<br />

completion of the last Qualifying match.<br />

ii) If an Alternate or Lucky Loser is accepted into the Draw, but when called<br />

is not available to play, she forfeits her place and the next Alternate or<br />

Lucky Loser will be called immediately to take the open spot. Once an<br />

Alternate or Lucky Loser forfeits, she is no longer eligible for Alternate or<br />

Lucky Loser status for that event. If a player does not sign up for<br />

Alternate or Lucky Loser status one day, she may still sign up on the next<br />

day.<br />

iii) Alternates and Lucky Losers must be ready to play in proper tennis attire<br />

within a total time of fifteen (15) minutes after the announcement of a<br />
