points earned from the two (2) tournaments. Upon the second and subsequent<br />

occurrences, the player will not be awarded any rankings points and she will<br />

be subject to a fine.<br />

f) Grand Slam and Multi-Week WTA Tournaments<br />

i. Participation during Qualifying and/or first weeks<br />

A player is allowed to play in two tournaments (<strong>ITF</strong> Women’s <strong>Circuit</strong>,<br />

WTA or Grand Slam) during this two-week period, provided the player<br />

has been eliminated from singles and doubles of the first tournament prior<br />

to the Qualifying Sign-in Deadline of the second tournament.<br />

Once a player has competed in two tournaments, where appropriate she<br />

will be automatically withdrawn from any <strong>ITF</strong> Women’s <strong>Circuit</strong><br />

tournament in the week following the Qualifying.<br />

ii. Participation during the second week<br />

A player is allowed to play in an <strong>ITF</strong> Women’s <strong>Circuit</strong> tournament during<br />

the second week of a Grand Slam or multi-week WTA tournament<br />

provided she has been eliminated from the singles and doubles of that<br />

tournament prior to the <strong>ITF</strong> Women’s <strong>Circuit</strong> tournament Qualifying<br />

Sign-in Deadline. A player who is still competing in the Grand Slam or<br />

multi-week WTA tournament at this deadline will be automatically<br />

withdrawn.<br />

A player is not allowed to withdraw from a Grand Slam or multi-week<br />

WTA tournament to play the <strong>ITF</strong> Women’s <strong>Circuit</strong> tournament.<br />

g) On-Site Withdrawal/Retirement from Week 1 & participation in Week 2<br />

A player who has lost in a Tournament (Week 1) may play the Qualifying for<br />

a Tournament scheduled for the next week (Week 2).<br />

A player may not withdraw or retire from Week 1 to play in any other<br />

tournament in Week 2 except for medical reasons. If a player is forced to<br />

withdraw on-site or retire from Week 1 due to medical reasons, and she is<br />

entered in a tournament in Week 2, that player must receive a medical<br />

examination from the Tournament Doctor from Week 1 and submit her<br />

medical examination to the Tournament Doctor for Week 2. To be eligible to<br />

compete in Week 2 the player must receive a medical examination from the<br />

tournament doctor.<br />

Any player will automatically be withdrawn from Week 2 if:<br />

i) she has withdrawn or retired from Week 1 without cause,<br />

or<br />

ii) she fails to provide a Medical Certificate from the Tournament Doctor<br />

from Week 1 to the Tournament Doctor of Week 2:<br />

or<br />

iii) she fails to receive a medical examination for Week 2 from the<br />

Tournament Doctor.<br />

Any player who is discovered to have contravened this rule shall not receive<br />

WTA ranking points for Week 2. The player will also be subject to a fine as<br />
