The story of Kinloch Anderson began
as a tailoring partnership between a
father and his two sons 145 years
ago. The management of our family-owned
company thereafter has passed directly from
father to son until the present day when
John Kinloch Anderson, the sixth generation
is the Chief Executive and his brother, Peter,
the Director of Brand Development. The
fifth generation remain fully active with
Douglas as Chairman and Deirdre as Senior
Director.

As foremost experts in Highland Dress since
1868 we are renowned in Edinburgh for kilt
making, all Highland Dress clothing and
accessories, ladies’ skirts, Scottish textiles

Royal Appointments as Tailors and
Kiltmakers to HM The Queen, HRH The
Duke of Edinburgh and HRH The Prince of

We have a spacious shop in Leith where we
offer friendly service and professional
advice. Renowned for made to measure
kilts we have over 2,000 tartans in our
ranges which are also available for trousers,
waistcoats, skirts and other items to be
made in the tartan of your choice. Our
heritage story is told in our Heritage Room
Museum which was transformed last year
and now takes you from our humble
beginnings through Military and Civilian
uniforms, the manufacture of ladies’ Scottish
skirts, the Royal Family tartan connections
and right up to the development of the
Kinloch Anderson Brand overseas. There is
a large screen for presentations and
continuous digital display of Kinloch
Anderson merchandise made under licence
and sold in over 300 shops in the Far East.
