Dubravka PAPA, a PhD student in Linguistics, graduated from the Teacher Training College in
Osijek (Croatia) and was appointed lecturer of English and German in 2005. Her MA dissertation
in European Studies at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek deals with less widely
used languages of the European Union. She has been teaching both English and German for more
than 15 years. As a qualified ELT, she is currently working at the Faculty of Law in Osijek and has
additionally been involved in teaching International Legal English to lawyers and business
English, to adult learners, as well as courses in translating legal instruments for students of
German at the Faculty of Arts in Osijek. Her articles on ESP and general English have been
published and presented at national and international conferences.
Anica PERKOVIĆ, a PhD student in Linguistics, graduated from the Teacher Training College in
Osijek (Croatia) and was appointed senior lecturer of English in 2004. As a qualified EFL teacher,
she has been lecturing both English and Croatian for 34 years. During this period, her papers
dealing with general English, ESP, and Croatian have been widely published. She has also been an
active participant in many national and international conferences as well as a CEEPUS project coordinator.
At the moment, she is Head of the Department of Informatics and Languages at the
Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek where she gives English language courses.
Georgeta RAŢĂ has a PhD in Linguistics from the University in Bucharest (Romania). She is a
qualified EFL teacher and has been teaching languages for almost 34 years. Her extensive
experience includes both general English and several areas of ESP, and she has published widely
in these areas. She also has cross-linguistic expertise, having worked in French and Romanian as
well as English, and understands the practical issues involved in teaching and learning different
languages and transferring research ideas from one language to another. She is the Scientific
Secretary of her Department, Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Linguistic Studies, a contributor to
the English Profile research project, and regularly organises international events in the field of
language education. In 2010, she has edited for Cambridge Scholars Publishing (England):
Language Education Today: Between Theory and Practice, Teaching Foreign Languages:
Languages for Special Purposes, and Social Sciences Today: Between Theory and Practice
(together with Maria Palicica).
Željko RIŠNER, senior lecturer of English and German and a PhD student in Linguistics,
graduated from the Teacher Training College in Osijek (Croatia). As qualified lecturer of English
and German, he has been teaching EFL and ESP, as well as German as Foreign Language and
German for Specific Purposes since 1990 at the Faculties of Construction and Civil Engineering,
Faculty of Law and Faculty of Management in Culture at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in
Osijek. At the Faculty of Law as his basic institution, he teaches the initial course of English for
Lawyers and English for EU Law. He also used to teach English for Lawyers in extramural units
of the Osijek Faculty of Law in Požega, Vukovar and Petrinja (Croatia). He attended a number of
conferences in Croatia and abroad as presenter of papers and as interpreter. He has translated a
number of scientific papers in different fields (law, economics, construction, entomology,
medicine, history) from and into German and English. He has also translated several monographs
about the town and institutions of Osijek into English and German.
Andreea VARGA’s qualifications include a BA in Philology and an MA in Creative Writing,
gaining insights into modern, post-modern and post-colonial literature (British and American),
drama, stylistics, narratology, textual intervention, fiction and poetry, and also into using creative
writing for different purposes. She is an Assistant Lecturer whose duties entail teaching English
preparatory courses, translation studies, Cambridge preparatory courses, English for special
purposes, proofreading and editing for conferences and journals, and research in the field of
applied linguistics and terminology. She is also involved in cultural voluntary projects, such as
summer schools, moderating creative writing fiction and poetry workshops.
